City of Garnett Lawn Mower
Demolition Derby
Sept 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m at the North Lake Optimist Field
Entry time: 10:00 to 12:00
( no inspections after 12:30 )
$15.00 entry fee for driver and mower $10.00 for pit passes
Admission adult $10 8 and under Free
$5 advance tickets at City Hall (785) 448-5496
NO ALCOHOL
Proceeds will go for the New Garnett Recreation Center
Payout
Youth Class 12 thru 16 and Adult Class 17 and up
Will be determined on how many entries we have

MOWER RULES
1. Mower must be a factory available lawn mower or garden mower ( NO HOME MADE FRAMES)
2. No rear engine lawn mowers are allowed.
3. Engine must be factory lawn mower engine such as Briggs & Stratton, Tecumseh, Onan ETC.
4. All frame modifications and frame reinforcing will be allowed must be contained inside the hood and not visible to the crowd.
5. Transaxels must be factory available mower transaxles but any reinforcing and or welding of spider gears is permitted.
6. Engine bay reinforcing is permitted but must be contained inside the hood and must maintain factory body lines and not visible to the crowd.
7. All mowers must run a factory hood and fenders and have the hood either screwed or welded down to the dash panel around drivers area ( Note if hood is fiberglass or plastic you can make one out of sheet metal only but must be the same size as the fiberglass one)
8. Mowers must have good brakes and forward and reverse gears at the start of the heat.
9. Gas tank must be secured and have a cap on it ( Any gas at all leaking and you will be disqualified).
10. Leg guards are mandatory and must be bolted or welded from rear fender to front of foot rest or frame and can not attach to front or back bumper. (IF LEG GUARDS COME OFF YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED)
11. A rear bumper is permitted but is not allowed to extend more then 4 inches out and it can not be any wider then the outside of the
tires also it can not attach to the leg guards or front bumper you may build a back support but cannot attach to the back or front bumper no spikes, sharpe edges or any pertusions allowed ( bumper can be home made with I/H beam or square tubing. Call for questions)
12. Regearing and changing of pulleys to increase speed is permitted and encouraged.
13. Any and all drive train modifications is permitted but must stay belt driven.
14. All mowers must use lawn mower type tires only tires and cut tires will be permitted, air in tires only. No foam filled or solid tires(no four wheeler tires) . No tire chains or dual wheels will be allowed. You may glue or screw tires to rims. Valve stem protection allowed
15. Mower decks must be removed.
16. All head lights and any other glass and plastics must be removed before you enter the pits.
17. If you use a battery it must be securely mounted and coverd with a non flammable material.
18. Front bumpers. No pointed bumpers. Bumpers must be flat with no sharp edges. Not to exceed 3” channel or 3”x3” square tubing. 2” Space max between mower and front bumper. Bumper can not stick out past front tires (width of mower) you may build behind the grill to hit with. The front of the mower must be a smooth finish for safety.
19. Role-over and you are out for the heat/feature
20. For safety if a mower does role over then stop until the mower is up right and the driver is off the track.
21. Please put your number on both sides of the mower or your helmet so we can track the winners.
22. No profanity allowed on the mowers or helmets or you will not be allowed to participate.
23. All drivers must wear a helmet. No shorts or cut off shirts. Long sleeve shirts are highly recommended.
24. You will have 60 seconds to hit another mower that is still running or you will be disqualified.
25. If you go outside of the arena you will be disqualified.
26. You will be allowed to restart but you can not move from your seat to do it or you will be flagged out.
27. No pull start mowers
28. This is a City sponsored event so there will be NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY. ANYONE CAUGHT WITH ALCOHOL WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND WILL GIVE UP ANY WINNINGS.
Remember guys this is the first year for this and we want to continue it in the future so anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to participate and will lose all winnings. One pit member allowed in the arena after the heat to help get the mower out.
Lets have fun and lets keep this going for years to come. It is a new sport just getting started. For any questions ( Don’t be afraid to call).
