Rules & Regulations
General Rules:
1. All cars will be inspected and must pass inspection before participating. If car does not pass inspection or driver is not willing to make the changes to pass inspection absolutely NO REFUNDS!
2. All rules will be followed or you will not run.
3. No hot – rodding in the pits, keep it at an idle.
4. Drivers must be 18 years of age to drive or 16-17 years of age with parental permission and signature.
5. The person that signs as the driver must be the driver for that entire event.
6. Driver must wear seatbelt and helmet with safety glasses or face shield, no sunglasses.
7. All drivers and pit crew members must attend the drivers meeting.
8. Do NOT hit the drivers door! Sometimes it happens, but if it looks intentional or careless, you will be disqualified. Do not use the door as a shield; it may cause you to be disqualified.
9. Any open door or fire will cause disqualification. If in heat you may fix it and come back in later.
10. No sandbagging, holding or team driving or you will be disqualified. If you want to win it, earn it.
11. You are given 1 minute for aggressive hits (must show damage-no love taps), 1 minute for restart and 1 minute if you are hung up then you will be disqualified.
12. No imperials, ambulances, hearse, trucks, limousines and sedanagons.
13. This is an alcohol free event. This is city property; you can and will be arrested for possession of alcohol on the premises.
14. Cars are subject to re-inspection before any prize money is handed out there is a $100 protest fee. You must be a driver in the feature event to protest. Drivers must have cash in hand directly after event in order to protest.
15. Any controversies will be taken be taken up at the drivers meeting.
16. Must claim all prize money for the event that day not a later time. Any money not claimed will go to the Wellington Motor Association to make final decision where to place it.
17. Judges decision is FINAL! Any arguments will lead to disqualification, removal and forfeit placing and money.
Car Preparation:
1. All cars must be stock unless stated otherwise in rules.
2. All glass, plastic, chrome, interior and wheel weights must be removed from car.
3. Original gas tank must be removed and replaced with a metal boat tank with a maximum of 6 gallons. Boat tank must be placed behind drivers seat and covered.
4. All trailer hitches must be removed.
5. No studded tires allowed.
6. Use motor and transmission of choice, must be in stock location. Modified motor mounts must not exceed 4” past the factory mounts and can be up to 3/8” thick. NO ENGINE CRADLES ARE ALLOWED! Can chain motors down or use two ¼” X 2” straps from the motor to the top of the frame.
7. Transmission coolers are allowed but must be covered for your protection.
8. Batteries must be secured down and covered.
9. All cars must have a window bar in center from roof to dash. If you use chain you must have 2 and bolted NOT WELDED!
10. You may weld a bar behind the seat, door post to door post, bar may not exceed 3” in diameter. You can support steering column if need but may not replace the dash.
11. Must have working brakes and they will be tested in inspection.
12. Name and number must be painted on drivers door. Sponsors and pictures are allowed with no profanity.
13. Welding on frame is allowed but all factory holes and body mount holes be left open. Top seams only can be welded from firewall to front bumper and from back bumper up to 18” towards wheel wells.
14. No painting or undercoating of the frame, it must be left as is.
15. Must weld or chain the bumpers to the car for your safety. Must not exceed 3/8” chain or 2” x ¼” strap to body to bumper NOT TO FRAME!
16. #9 wire may be used in 2 spots on the car, no more than 3 wraps, must not go to the frame.
17. ¾” all thread is allowed to hold the hood and trunk down with a limit of 4 pieces to hood and 4 pieces to the trunk. 2 being allowed to go to the frame and others sheet metal to sheet metal.
18. You may have 4 plates on each the hood and the trunk not to exceed the size of 5x5x1/2” thick.
19. You are allowed 4 homemade clamps to hold leaf springs together but cannot exceed 2x4x1/4” in size. You are not allowed to add any leaf springs to the car though.
20. Coil spring car cannot be changed to leaf springs.
21. No tape anywhere on the cars except hoses or electrical.
22. All holes in firewall must be covered, a 12” x 12” hole can be cut for distributor but must be covered with rubber.
23. A 12” hole must be cut in the trunk and hood for inspection purposes.
24. Must have door bar but can not exceed 3” in diameter and 6” in width and must not exceed past front drivers door only (can use grader blades).
25. FOR PRERAN CARS ONLY: frame can have 4 patches in size 2” x 4” x ¼”.
