i know derbys aint won in the first 2 min or in your heats and there is a time to hit and a time to just take it easy, but when its down to 2 cars thats go time whats the point of holding back then? plus it makes derbys look bad, and if i was the franklin county fair i would be pretty ticked about signing a $2000 check for a ending like that. everybody bitched and moaned about the fairboard not putting up any kind of money but could you blame them if they never do that again? i know where i was lots left early. without fans there is no derbys

I Agree with that 100%! You should take that show over Jay that might fix a lot of the problem down there Be careful what you wish for ;D I will be the first to tell you that I am not perfect nor will I make the correct call every time. Running a show is a hundred times harder than driving in one. At the end of the night, there's always somebody that's pissed at you.

I'm not usually one to make a huge deal about shit but I watched the video and once they came out and warned me about bagging I made just as many hits as the other three guys out there and not 15 seconds before they made me brake I hit a car hard twice in the front wheel then was pinned between the other two and they dq'ed me. I don't think it's right. I was doing everything I could I'm sorry I'm not the hardest hitting guy out there I also don't build the hardest car out there I do what I can with what I got.
As for not taking my car into the conci and loading it I didn't see the point in going out and tearing up a bent car that I had no way to fix at the show. Cars are expensive and I didn't want to possibly tear up a car beond repair.

Tjhawk what show was you at? It sure the HELL wasn't Ottawa.. If was a good show 1000 people wouldn't have left early PERIOD... It has everything to do with the officiating... You can't blame the drivers... If you can get in with loaded cars and not makes hits its the officals fault for first letting you in and second for not making anyone hit...

and just how do you "make" drivers hit? If a car is hitting every minute (or whatever the rules say), how is it you can "make" them hit more or harder? I'm not defending anybody here, but I also don't think people see it from all sides.

Jay I believe the rule says aggresive hit.. Correct me if I'm wrong.... And you can start it by breaking sticks.. after awhile people catch on...They stopped it 2 times atleast and told them to start hitting.. Then the fair board member came down to the track and spoke to Willy on the blocks and he once again stopped it and told them again.. Baker "makes" people hit at his show and the crowd loves it.. All you have to have as a official is Balls in your sack that is dangling between your legs and make a point... Just like you have been doing with your inspections Jay. People are catching on and liking your shows because of it.

Dan, I see your point, but I just feel like I need to be the devils advocate here. You said it yourself, it has to be an "aggressive" hit. That term can mean many things to many people. Jacob said it himself that he wasn't out there to hit as hard as he could, and I totally understand that. When I used to run, my cars weren't anywhere near hard enough to compete so there are times when you have to be smart. Of course...I never was and ended up using up my car by driving like an idiot . Should Jacob have been DQ'd? I have no idea, I wasn't there so I won't speculate, but I will say that I've been on both sides of the blocks and it's a tough call. I guess it's a good idea to discuss in the drivers meeting what the head official's meaning of aggressive is and what will be enforced. Thanks for the opinions guys.

I think the 1000 people that left early spoke for itself.. I have been to 100s of shows in the last 20 yrs and honestly can say this was the worst one to date.. And Cheater1 it has nothing to do with Nick winning.. My money is on him winning everytime he runs... He is hard to beat I speak from experiance lol And Jay I also have been on both sides of the blocks.. I've drove in Over 50 and officiated over 20... From 100 car count shows I have drove in to officiating shows even bigger I never never seen a show that shitty... Bottom line is Willy doesn't cut it

the 75 t-boned a defenseless car on the wall with like 4 or 5 to go, perfectly good hit but when its down to 2 cars all they want to do is play who can shove each other? what the hell is up with that? in my mind if its 2 to go and you got a car to do it you go to the other end of the arena and hope like hell you get further across then the other guy does and drill him, idk guess im from the old days

Hahaha Paul we were talking about that tonight I know I would prolly say f that I don't have the car to hold up to that but it would be a faster way to figure out 1st and second place. But I don't know how many insurance company's would insure a derby that was the to figure out the end
