Douglas County Free Fair Demolition Derby will be Friday, August 2nd at 7pm. We will be having Full Size, Compact, and Hobo classes again this year. Rules are attached. Payouts to follow very soon, but I can say that they will be similar to last years with money being moved from full size and compacts into the Hobo class. -Jay If you can't download or view the rules, I can post them or email them to you. Payouts:
Full Size Class 1st $2000 2nd $1000 3rd $600 4th $300 5th $200 6th $100 7th $50 8th $50 9th $50 10th $50
Compact Class 1st $2000 2nd $1000 3rd $600 4th $300 5th $200 6th $100 7th $50 8th $50 9th $50 10th $50
Hobo Class 1st $1000 2nd $500 3rd $250 4th $200 5th $100 6th $50 7th $50 8th $50
Last year I was able to get some sponsor money together for Mad Dog money and this year should be at least the same. I believe we paid $500 in both full size and compacts to the mad dog and a couple hundred for mad dog and best paint job in the Hobo class. I'm hoping to at least pay that much again, but it could also be more. -Jay

Whats the odds of ever allowing old iron either in lawrence or overbrook in the hobo class?

probably very soon Paul. It's a very big thing up in Illinois right now. I see the value in it and will look into it for next year.
In the meantime, I am allowing it in McCune and I'm pretty sure Pay Up Sucker is allowing it in Atchison this year.
Overbrook is still a possibility for this year.... just sayin' ;D

I have had several good questions about Hobo class. One question in particular came up and here it is.
THE CAR I WANT TO RUN COMES WITH A FIBERGLASS/PLASTIC BUMPER. CAN I DO ANYTHING TO FIX THIS?
Answer: Yes. You may find a 1980's automobile bumper and put it on there within the weld/bolting rules. There are plenty of steel crown vic bumpers out there. I'd prefer you use one of those. This does not mean you can "swap" bumpers. If you have a 1982 GM car with an aluminum backed bumper, you have to run that one. I'm talking about the late 80's/early 90's Cadillacs and such. If this is not clear, text or call me. Absolutely NO 70's bumpers. To answer your next question...yes, I will be a dick about this, so don't take advantage of it -Jay

3/4" allthread will be allowed in the front/hood area for Hobo Class Cars. The rule says 1/2", but I will allow 3/4" That is all... -Jay

Hell...who knows, but I would bet a paycheck we will have more than we did last year. I'd love to see 10-12 and I think that is pretty reasonable from what I'm hearing. Who knows though...we might have 40

I know I am bringing at least two and most likely 3 from my shop. I would like to see enough to need heats next year!

UPDATE!!!
Leavenworth County Fairboard has decided to put up a $500 prize to the highest placing car that runs Lawrence and turns right around and runs the Tongie show the next night. This is only for the full-size class. Just something to think about...
