I just bought a 1984 Caprice station wagon on Sunday and I am wanting to enter my first derby at McLouth in less than two weeks and I have a couple questions. This is a bone stock grocery getter so as long as I follow the rules does UT qualify for HOBO class? As far as a fire jacket, is an Army issued flame retardant flight suit sufficient? Are there more specific rules on bolting decorations to the roof and hood as long as it does not help the car in anyway? I remember when I was a little kid at a derby a guy had a station wagon he painted like a tank and he put a little turret on the roof. I am just looking to have some fun and want a cool theme for my car, any help you can provide is appreciated. Thanks I bet that guy with the turret on top would be none other than les foster , camo gms with a turret right?

It was 20 years ago in Paola. Can I run the stock fuel tank as long as I reposition it to the back seat or does everyone run some kind of fuel cell? Also for the hobo class can I weld the station wagon tailgate or do I have to chain it? I plan to chain the rest of the doors. Thanks again

Anyone in the Topeka, Jeff county area have one I can borrow or buy cheap? I'm up against the clock. I have drill all weekend and I am still stripping the interior.

How big of a hobo class turnout is there usually? Does hobo run heats or is it a one and done?

A guy in my unit has an old military fuel can for me. I will check with him tomorrow morning and make sure he can bring it. If not I will let you know. My wife teaches in Perry so maybe she can pick it up. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the heads up, I had been reading what other guys use and the army can was a suggestion glad I didn't go that route. I better go with the boat can. She works at the elementary school could you meet there after 330? If not I can run down tonight and get it. Thanks

Sorry the day got away from me with 3 busy kids and all I hadn't had a chance to get back to you. I do have 2 tanks available if you're able to pick up in Williamstown
