The 2013 SAL Post 237 Octoberfest Figure 8 Race will be held September 28, 2013 in the Linn City Park in Linn, Kansas beginning at 5 P.M. We will be following the Nebraska Rules and will be having a Open Class, Stock Class and Compact Class. Guarenteed payouts for 1st place are as follows: Open Class - $1000.00 Stock Class - $500.00 Compact Class - $350.00 All other cars that make it to the main feature in thier class will recieve a payout, this will be based on the amount of cars that show for each class. There will be NO ALCOHOL allowed in the pits, if you bring a cooler and it has alcohol of any kind in it the cooler will be taken from you then after the event is over the cooler and contents will be returned to you, this will be strictly enforced. 2013 Oktoberfest Compact Class Rules General Rules: Driver/Car Rules: 1. Car and Driver register as one and nothing can be switched throughout the night of racing. Driver that registers car runs car and no one else can race during that nights event. 2. Drivers are allowed to run multiple cars at an event. It is up to the officials if they will make sure the cars are in different heats or if you will be place in the random draw to determine the heats for the cars. 3. Car that is registered and teched by the officials at the start of the night cannot be switched during the event if for some reason it becomes non-repairable. For example: no back-up car or driving another driver’s car. 4. No Driver changes – If driver brings multiple cars to an event and qualifies multiple cars for the feature he can choose which car he drives in the feature but no other driver can drive the other car. The other car would automatically receive last place in the feature. If only one car qualifies for the feature. The car that qualified has to run the feature. Conduct: 1. No Speeding in the Pits. Speeding in the pit area will not be allowed and will result in expulsion. 2. When in the pit area, make every effort to maintain a constant watch for your own protection. 3. Any driver who is under the influence of alcohol or other controlled substances will be disqualified and may be suspended from future events. 4. No Driver may get out of their car or stop on the racing surface to argue or discuss a race situation with the flagman or officials. Violation of this rule can result in disqualification from the event. 5. You and/or your crew members may not enter the pit area of another driver to argue over race situations. Concerns should be brought to race officials only. 6. Any fighting in the pit area will subject the offender, and the car they are associated with, to disqualification and may result in suspension from future races. The driver/owner of every car is responsible for their pit crew and their conduct. Sportsmanship: 1. Racing is a very emotional sport. As such, good sportsmanship is a keen element of any competitive racing program. This must include respect for all participants – drivers, owners, pit crews, officials, and fans. Please represent NeFigure8n with showing good sportsmanship to all. Oktoberfest Compact Class Car Building Rules Automobiles: Rear wheel drive 105” wheel base Front wheel drive 107” or less. No convertibles, jeeps, 4x4, AWD, Battery: 1. securely fastened down and covered inside battery box. Battery must be bolted down. Battery cover may be buggies or straps. Brakes: 1. At least two brakes must work and they must lock up on inspection. Four working brakes are highly recommended for safety. Body: 1. All exterior glass, plastic, upholstery, light, mirrors, moldings and chrome must be removed. All interior must be removed excluding dash. Plastic outer skin must be replaced with sheet metal. 2. You may reinforce or custom build the compact class body anyway you want as long as you meet the safety requirements. 3. No graders blades or tempered steel that may shatter is allowed anywhere on the car. 4. Car numbers on both doors. Letters may appear behind number and must be at least 6 inches tall. No four digit numbers allowed Bumpers: 1. Bumpers may be other than OEM. 2. No bumpers sticking out. Must be angled back or capped so they are safer on the track. There must be no gap between front bumper and front fender. Doing this will help prevent tearing open another car, as well as getting hung up on another car. 3. Recommendation is 8" or more tall and 8” or more deep, to help prevent tearing open another car. Driver Protection: 1. Fire suits recommended. SFI 5 or better rating recommended. Also recommend using SNELL approved helmets. 2. 5 point safety harness recommended. Recommended that they be in date. 3. No open face helmets. Must have eye protection 4. Gloves strongly recommended (SFI Rating suggested) (FIRE PROTECTION) 5. Neck brace recommended Engine: 1. No Aluminum Blocks. (Unless it is an OEM motor.) 2. 6 Cyl or less FIREWALL: Any holes in firewall must be covered with a non-flammable material to prevent competitor from being sprayed by hot oil, or water. Fuel Tanks: Factory fuel tanks allowed if located between axles. Any non-factory fuel cell will be up to official’s discretion weather its safe. Hood: 1. Hood must be securely fastened. 2. Officials will have suggestions if your not built strong enough to keep hood from moving back into driver upon collision. (This is a must) Roll Cage: 1. Must have rollover cage or bar that will support structure of the car. 2. Must have at least 2 (3 recommended) driver’s side door bars includes passenger door on cruisers. This must be inspected and pass tech before car will be allowed to race. 3. If factory DASH IS REMOVED, A dash bar must be installed between front door posts from side to side with a plate on each end. Minimum roll cage pipe or stronger. 4. There shall also be a bar placed behind drivers seat from side to side. Minimum 1 7/8 roll cage pipe with plates on the ends. (This is usually part of the cage build) 5. All bars within the reach of any part of the driver’s body parts should be padded. Safety is priority. Cages and welds will be inspected; cages appearing unsafe will not race. Wheels and Tires: 1. Any tires or wheels you want to run. 2. All wheel weights have to be removed. 3. No split rims. 4. No fluid in tires allowed. 5. May reinforce and add valve stem protection. Windshield: 1. Windshield bars must be welded or bolted on car, to protect the driver Remember: Build the car for drivers safety! OFFICIALS DECISIONS ARE FINAL! Have a Great 2013 Racing Season!
