29TH ANNUAL DEMOLITION DERBY LOCAL REGULATIONS
1. The Labor Day Committee retains the right to disqualify any entry not abiding by the Demolition Derby Rules & Regulations and City of Hoisington Ordinances.
2. The Labor Day Committee does not have a Permit authorizing Cereal Malt to be brought into the Pit Area, so all Coolers should contain nothing but Soda pop, Lemonade, Ice Tea, Food, etc.
3. The Labor Day Committee has permission to sell Cereal Malt Beverages at its Concession for those attending the Derby and consuming Cereal Malt in the Stands.
4. Our Policy is that " Cereal Malt will not be consumed in the Pit Area for Safety Reasons."IT IS ILLEGAL TO BRING IN ANY ALCOHOL!
5. Be Assured, that if anyone is seen consuming Cereal Malt in the Pit Area by the City of Hoisington Police Department, they will be asked to move to the Bleacher Area. Anyone seen consuming anything higher than 3.2 Cereal Malt will be asked to leave the premises.
6. Each Driver participating as an Entry must submit a completed registration (Entry) form.
7. A "Waiver and Release of Liability" form must also be signed by all Drivers.
8. An Entry Fee of $30.00 shall have been paid prior to August 27, 2012. If paid after August 27, 2012, entry fee shall be $35.00, unless waived by management.
9. All Drivers must be 18 years of age or older to participate. (Absolutely NO WAIVERS)
10. Drivers must wear seat belts and safety helmets. (Other padding and Safety Equipment is permissible as deemed necessary by the Driver).
11. No children under the age of 13 admitted to the pit area. Any children 13 and older shall have a "Minor's Release" signed by parent or legal guardian prior to admittance in the pit area. (The "Minor Release" should be notarized, if possible).
12. Gates will open and registration/inspection will begin approximately at 9:00 A.M. on Derby Day.
2012 Demolition Derby Rules
1.Any make of automobile, 1950 and up may be entered as long as the vehicle is not a pickup, truck, or jeep. No four wheel drives, NO Chrysler Imperials, NO ambulances or hearses will be allowed. No trucks, jeeps, convertibles, carryalls, and NO Imperial sub frame cars
2.All glass, chrome, name plates, pot metal, plastic, small grill prices, and anything else that might break off or fall off must be removed from car prior to entry on grounds. No wagon decking will be allowed.
3. Concrete, metal plate, wood, foam and pins in the frame and doors will NOT be allowed.
4. The stock gas tanks must be removed. A maximum 10 gallon gas tank must be located in the rear seat compartment and fastened and covered securely.
5. Batteries must be moved to front seat compartment and fastened securely. Batteries and fuel cells must be covered with metal or rubber mat. No more than two automotive or marine batteries allowed.
6. Radiators and fans may be removed but not relocated. You can not use your heater core for a radiator
7. Transmission coolers may be placed inside the car. Electric fans or ice may be used.
8. Body mounts may be changed to 1 inch bolts or less. A 5” by 5” by ¼” plate may be used inside the car as a washer on the top side of the body mounts. You can suck body to frame. Do not weld. You may add 2 extra body mounts inside of car only. Rear humps forward. Not in truck area.
9. Car trunk lids may be folded inside the trunk compartment. You can not weld lid inside of car.
10. Air conditioning condenser cores may be placed in front of the radiator. No other reinforcement such as expanded metal may be used.
11. No tires larger than 15” allowed. A tire mounted inside of a tire is allowable.
12. WHEELS: No bead lock or screwed wheels. 5 lug wheels only
13. Air cleaner must be left in place.
14. Firewalls can have a 12X12 inch hole cut out for distributor clearance. Covered with inter tube. Distributor protectors allowed, must be attached to engine or transmission only, backside must be no wider than 12 inches. If you run a Distributor Protector do not mount your dash bar closer than 6 inches from any sheet metal. You must also cut 5 slices in the firewall so the firewall does not become a support.
15. Modifications are allowed but the car must be running on gasoline.
16. Coil spring rear end cars can NOT be changed to a leaf spring rear end. Do NOT add any leafs to leaf spring car. No main leafs may be substituted for sub leafs. Do not modify or alter suspension of the car, leaf springs must be stock. You may reinforce tie rods with a 3/8 by 8 inch rod, no modification of A arms, leaf springs and coil. This means you can swap out A arm for A arm but you can not reinforce A arm with added metal. No welding is allowed on arms. You may use one 3/8 bolt on each A arm to hold the A arm down. You can have factory twist in spacers in front and rear coils springs. You can have 2 extra clamps per side on rear of leaf springs.
17. You can add 1/8 inch plate or stuff upper and lower control arms.
18. A fire extinguisher must be placed in car and securely mounted within easy access to the driver.
19. You may place slogans and/or advertising (no obscenities) anywhere on the car except on the front door. You must put the car number in large print on the front doors with the driver’s name above the number. You must put car number upright on the roof of the car.
20. All cars must have working brakes.
21. No paint or undercoating allowed on frames.
22. # 9 wire is allowed. 1 spot per window and it can have 2 complete wraps. Can go around frame
23. You can pre-fold body but you can not weld, this means do not create your own seems and weld.
24. 80s and newer –you are allowed to tilt (You are allowed to cut the frame at the box, pull it down, and re-weld it.),
25. Watts-Link Conversions – You may convert a Watts Link Ford to a Standard GM rear end in the following way: Use the trailing arm brackets off an older Ford of the same size and thickness. No positioning of the brackets to strengthen the front down leg of the rear hump. You may cut out the coil spring frame tray from an earlier Ford and weld it in the newer Ford. When welding only one pass ¼”maximum no stronger than stock.
26. 2003 and Newer Fords, Do not change out the aluminum cross member it must remain stock. You can change steering components but they must not weld to the frame. Bolted in with no modifications.
27. Rear ends: You may brace the back housing but can not have axle protectors.
DERBY RULES**WELDING EXCEPTIONS
1. The only welding on the frame is from the transmission cross member forward. Top and bottom seams only. Do NOT weld anywhere else on the frame unless stated. Do not X frame. No cars will be allowed to run if they have been welded behind the cross member. You will not be allowed to slobber welds. No welding will be allowed inside of cars. If a car is brought in with welds, you must cut all the way through and no slobbers allowed.
2. The hood must be securely bolted with a maximum of six all threads not to exceed one inch in diameter (must be able to open). The only bolts or all thread allowed to go through the frame are the two located at the radiator core support. All other bolts or all thread must be sheet metal to sheet metal only. Hood washers may not exceed 3/8 inch thick by 5 inch square. Two bolts or all thread (not to exceed 1 inch in diameter) are allowed in the trunk and can go thru frame. Trunk may be chained around rear bumper but must not go around the frame or rear axle. Trunk and doors may be securely welded on the outside only. You can fold top of doors down and weld together. No added material used. You can not weld on hoods; you can use 25 bolts which can be ¼ inch thick to reattach braces to hood.
3. Holes must be cut in hood, (a min. of (2) 6”by 6” each) A 12” hole must be cut in trunk. Trimming the body for tire clearance allowed (a maximum of five 3/8 inch bolts per wheel well with a maximum on inch O.D. washer will be allowed. You may cut and weld rear fender wells also.
4. A safety bar may be welded or bolted behind driver’s seat not to exceed 4 inch in diameter. Bar may extend from door post to door post, but preferred to run diagonally from driver’s door to hump in floor board. A four point internal side cage (includes dash bar, side bars, and bar behind seat) will be allowed. Side bars must not extend further than 18 inches behind rear edge of front door. Side bar can not be bigger than 4 inch. You may also run a kicker from the door bar down to the floor or frame, do not extend any further forward than the front door seam, between the dash bar and seat bar, on both sides. You may connect the rear halo to the frame but can not go further back than 18 inches from the front door seam. Gas tank protectors can be used but can only be only 24 inch long. It can be 3 inch or less in diameter and must be 1 inch away from untouched sheet metal behind gas tank. You can either go forward or angle and tie back into seat bar .
5. Driver’s door must have reinforcement brace on inside or outside of door. Driver’s door bar on the outside can cover driver’s side door and passenger side door but not to exceed past passenger side door. Foam may be place in driver’s door area to protect driver. You may also stick 4x4 wooden post in the driver side door only.
6. DO NOT install special bumpers, extra weights, trailer hitches, special lift kits, or any reinforcement except as set out in rules. No modifications of suspension allowed. Shocks may not be altered but you can have the coil over shocks. No coil over shocks allowed on front end.
7. A bar or chain must be welded in where windshield would be. The windshield protector will not be used for reinforcement.
8. Door seams, trunk lid seams, and wagon gate seams may be welded with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). You can not over lay material anywhere on the car. This means do not weld a 2 inch followed by a 1 or even 2 inch. Smaller material may be used. Only outside seams may be welded. You can also weld the inner door seams with a 3” strap. This is the only thing you can weld inside of the car.
9. A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼” can be welded from front bumper to core support. A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼ can be welded from rear bumper to trunk lid. All straps on the front and back must be placed vertically.
10. Factory bumper mounts may be welded to the frame without using filler material.
11. Shock bumper mounts may be welded without using filler material.
12. Bumper swaps are allowed. Chevy to Ford, Chrysler to Chevy. No relocating of bumpers and No loaded bumpers. You may have (2) 6x3 and ½ inch thick plates laid on the outside of the bumper to help reinforce bumpers. You may put them anywhere on the outside of the bumpers only.
13. Bumper skin may be cut and folded down and welded. Can not relocate cut off bumper scraps.
14. Motor mounts may be welded as long as it does not reinforce frame. You can only go straight down and do not extend out.
15. Pre-run cars may patch a hole in the body of the car, but not replace the whole side of the car. If you patch a hole you must use sheet metal no greater than the sheet metal that makes up the original car body. This patch may overlap the outside of the hole 2”X 4” don’t push your luck
16. No welding of the suspension. You can weld main leaf mounting brackets to prevent them from coming unbolted. Rear end control arm may be shortened or lengthened but must be rewelded. You can weld coil springs at the base. (So they don’t fly out)
17. The steering column from steering wheel to gearbox may be altered.
18. Welding machines can be allowed in pit area.
19. All cars may have plates welded to the frame and you may have 6 total plates (4X6) and can be ¼ inch thick. Maximum 6 plates per car. This means fresh or used cars. If you have a preran car, and you already have 6 plates and you have to add another plate, you must completely cut one plate off to add another plate. The plates can only be welded on the side of the frames. No welding the plates on the top and bottom of the frame. ONLY 6 plates total and I am not going off square inches.
21. You may weld the core support and inner fenders to outer fenders. DO NOT USE ADDED FILLER. WELD ONLY.
22. Sedagons are allowed but you are not allowed to weld the top post to the bottom post. You can only tuck roof inside of car and use the 2 all threads or # 9 wire which is stated.
DERBY RULES
1.One driver door hit is a warning unless it is intentional. 2ND door hit and you are out.
2. If you are pushed into a driver door or are on the brakes and he door contact is a soft bump, you will be allowed to continue.
3. Anytime 2 wheels or more of the car is outside of the boundary the car will have one minute to return. Four wheels out and car is disqualified from heat.
4. Any car with gasoline spilling or leaking will be disqualified from heat.
1. Drivers must remain in their cars until the event director has declared the heat is over, except in the case of a fire.
2. When the calling goes out for each heat and final heat, driver is responsible for being on the track in 2 minutes or he will be disqualified.
3. Helmets with face shields or helmets with goggles must be worn at all times. Seat belts and shoulder harness must be worn at all times.
4. Any door that comes open will be disqualified.
5. Driver must make a hit within 1 minute
6. Cars catches on fire two times in one heat will be disqualified from heat.
2012 COMPACT CAR DEMOLITION DERBY RULES
Compact rules: 105" wheel base or less- 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder
General Rule* If car does not pass inspection or driver is unwilling to change car to pass inspection there will be absolutely NO REFUNDS!
1. All Rules will be followed, or you will NOT run!
2. Drivers must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
3. Driver must wear seat belt and helmet, along with eye protection.
4.The person, who signs in as the Driver/passenger, MUST be the Driver/Passenger for that event.
5. ALL drivers and crewmembers MUST attend the drivers meeting.
6.DO NOT hit the driver’s door! Sometimes this happens, but if it looks intentional or carelessness, you will be disqualified. Don't use your door as
a shield, it may cause you to get disqualified.
7. NO hot rodding in the pits, keep it at an idle.
8. Any open door or a fire will cause disqualification. If in heat, you may fix it and come back though the consolation.
9. NO sandbagging or holding! You will be DISQUALIFIED!
10. You are given 20 seconds to make an aggressive hit, 1minute for restarts and 1 minute if you are hung up.
11. No alcohol in the pits, if anyone is caught with alcohol, they will be disqualified, this does include their pit crew.
12. Cars are subject to re-inspection before any prize money is handed out. There is a $150 protest fee and you must be a driver in order to protest.
13. Any controversies will be taken up in the drivers meeting.
14. Any questions give us a call! If it doesn't say you can do it, don't do it. Call First!
15. Judges decisions are FINAL!
********* Car Preparation*********
1. All cars must be stock, unless modification is stated in the rules.
2. All glass, plastic, chrome, and interior must be removed from car before arriving to the derby.
3. All decking in station wagons MUST BE REMOVED!
4. Tires no bigger than 15 inch, No split rims, No Studded tires or tractor lugs. Foam filled or doubled tires OK- we don't want any flats! Valve stem
protectors OK Tires may be screwed to rims.
5. Use motor and tranny of choice, motor must be in stock location. You may chain or weld motor and tranny to keep in place (don’t strengthen the frame)
6. Rear end may be welded or locked.
7. You must use a radiator and it must be in a stock location.
8. All cars must have working brakes.
9. A- arms, ball joints and tie rods must remain stock.
10. All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.
11. Original gas tanks must be removed. You must use a boat tank or well made fuel cell and it must be properly secured and covered.
PLASTIC TANKS MUST HAVE A METAL SHEILD OVER THEM.
12. Transmission collars will be allowed, but must be safe and properly secured.
13. Batteries must be moved to passenger floorboard close to transmission. It must be properly secured and covered.
14. You must have a number IN BRIGHT colors on each front door and must have a 15" x 15" sign with car number on it for judging and recognition of car.
(OVER)
Car Building:
1. Doors, trunk lids and hatch lids may be welded solid on the outside only.
2. No welding of the frame seams
3. If you don't weld your doors, trunk, or tailgate, you can chain them with 3/8 chain or less and you are allowed 2 chains per seam.
4. ****** For drivers protection, you may weld a bar behind the seat from doorpost to doorpost, it can be X, you may also have a bar across your dash,
you may connect the dash bar to bars behind seat across the inside front door only, you may also weld your steering column in, you can also weld a
plate across the driver’s door not to exceed 6 inches past each seam. You may have a roll loop behind the seat, which may be welded to the floor and
welded or bolted to the roof- no kickers going to the back or front of the car. Back of cage including roll bar, can only be 10" from back of seat.
5. Bumpers are interchangeable. Any automotive bumper and bumper brackets may be used on any car. No homemade bumpers or brackets. You can
weld the bumper brackets or towers to the frame you can weld bumper brackets and shocks to the bumper. You can weld shocks to shock towers.
You can collapse shocks and you can bolt the shocks to the tower with 1/2" bolt or less and it must be done vertically. You may trim bumper ends
or fold them around.
No welding on the bumpers except to weld the brackets or shocks. When welding bumpers, shocks and brackets - DO NOT add any metal.
Weld Shocks and brackets solid if you wish (5- inch weld rule doesn't apply to shocks or brackets) Weld them good, we don't want any bumpers
falling off. NO PEGS!
6.****** Hood must have at least 12- inch square hole cut in case of fire.
Any holes cut in hood may be bolted back together with3/8 or less bolt. You can put bolt every 12" or 4 per hole. You will be allowed 8 hood bolts,
you MUST have at least 4 hood bolts through. Hood bolts must be sheet metal to sheet metal. Hood must be open for inspection. Plates for hood bolts
can't exceed 5x5x1/2 inch. Hood bolts can be up to 1" in diameter. Hood bolts must be sheet metal to sheet metal only you may have 2 - all thread,
from hood to frame at the radiator support only. From the top of the radiator support down 5" may be welded to all thread.
7. Wire can go from radiator support NOT HOOD to bumper in 2 spots ( 4 loops max)
8. Suspension must be stock height. Leaf springs must be stock. Leaf springs must stagger down in stock spring length from longest to smallest.
You can re clamp springs, 6 clamps per side homemade or factory. Homemade clamps can’t exceed 2x4x1/4 inch. You can put spacers in sagging
coil springs to get your height. You can bolt or wire coil springs to rear-end and frame to prevent springs from falling out. You can loop chain or
wire from rear end to frame in 1 spot each side. No bigger than#9 wire or3/8" chain or cable may be used.
9. You can run shifter through floor and you can have switch panel. You may also have a hand throttle. If you are running an electric fuel pump-
must be hooked up to your ignition switch- so when your car shuts off - it shuts off.
10 You may alter your steering column to prevent loss of steering.
11. You may cut wheel wells for tire clearance. Fenders may be bolted back together with 5 3/8 inch bolts or less. The rear quarter panel is considered
part of the rear fender.
12. You can have 1 spot wire in each window opening and may go from roof to frame. 4 loops of wire in each spot.
13. MUST have 1 bar in windshield from roof to dash for safety reasons.
1.Depending on the number of entries there may be more than one heat prior to the final feature of the
Demolition Derby.
2. Final heat- Competition will continue until only one car remains running.
3. Advanced entry fee is $25.00 (which includes car & driver) if received by August 30. $30 entry fee
at derby site.
4. Each additional pit-man is $15.00
5. First place - $500/Trophy, Second place -$200/Trophy and third place - $50/Trophy.

12. WHEELS: No bead lock or screwed wheels. 5 lug wheels only
13. Air cleaner must be left in place.
14. Firewalls can have a 12X12 inch hole cut out for distributor clearance. Covered with inter tube. Distributor protectors allowed, must be attached to engine or transmission only, backside must be no wider than 12 inches. If you run a Distributor Protector do not mount your dash bar closer than 6 inches from any sheet metal. You must also cut 5 slices in the firewall so the firewall does not become a support.
15. Modifications are allowed but the car must be running on gasoline.
16. Coil spring rear end cars can NOT be changed to a leaf spring rear end. Do NOT add any leafs to leaf spring car. No main leafs may be substituted for sub leafs. Do not modify or alter suspension of the car, leaf springs must be stock. You may reinforce tie rods with a 3/8 by 8 inch rod, no modification of A arms, leaf springs and coil. This means you can swap out A arm for A arm but you can not reinforce A arm with added metal. No welding is allowed on arms. You may use one 3/8 bolt on each A arm to hold the A arm down. You can have factory twist in spacers in front and rear coils springs. You can have 2 extra clamps per side on rear of leaf springs.
17. You can add 1/8 inch plate or stuff upper and lower control arms.
18. A fire extinguisher must be placed in car and securely mounted within easy access to the driver.
19. You may place slogans and/or advertising (no obscenities) anywhere on the car except on the front door. You must put the car number in large print on the front doors with the driver’s name above the number. You must put car number upright on the roof of the car.
20. All cars must have working brakes.
21. No paint or undercoating allowed on frames.
22. # 9 wire is allowed. 1 spot per window and it can have 2 complete wraps. Can go around frame
23. You can pre-fold body but you can not weld, this means do not create your own seems and weld.
24. 80s and newer –you are allowed to tilt (You are allowed to cut the frame at the box, pull it down, and re-weld it.),
25. Watts-Link Conversions – You may convert a Watts Link Ford to a Standard GM rear end in the following way: Use the trailing arm brackets off an older Ford of the same size and thickness. No positioning of the brackets to strengthen the front down leg of the rear hump. You may cut out the coil spring frame tray from an earlier Ford and weld it in the newer Ford. When welding only one pass ¼”maximum no stronger than stock.
26. 2003 and Newer Fords, Do not change out the aluminum cross member it must remain stock. You can change steering components but they must not weld to the frame. Bolted in with no modifications.
27. Rear ends: You may brace the back housing but can not have axle protectors.
DERBY RULES**WELDING EXCEPTIONS
1. The only welding on the frame is from the transmission cross member forward. Top and bottom seams only. Do NOT weld anywhere else on the frame unless stated. Do not X frame. No cars will be allowed to run if they have been welded behind the cross member. You will not be allowed to slobber welds. No welding will be allowed inside of cars. If a car is brought in with welds, you must cut all the way through and no slobbers allowed.
2. The hood must be securely bolted with a maximum of six all threads not to exceed one inch in diameter (must be able to open). The only bolts or all thread allowed to go through the frame are the two located at the radiator core support. All other bolts or all thread must be sheet metal to sheet metal only. Hood washers may not exceed 3/8 inch thick by 5 inch square. Two bolts or all thread (not to exceed 1 inch in diameter) are allowed in the trunk and can go thru frame. Trunk may be chained around rear bumper but must not go around the frame or rear axle. Trunk and doors may be securely welded on the outside only. You can fold top of doors down and weld together. No added material used. You can not weld on hoods; you can use 25 bolts which can be ¼ inch thick to reattach braces to hood.
3. Holes must be cut in hood, (a min. of (2) 6”by 6” each) A 12” hole must be cut in trunk. Trimming the body for tire clearance allowed (a maximum of five 3/8 inch bolts per wheel well with a maximum on inch O.D. washer will be allowed. You may cut and weld rear fender wells also.
4. A safety bar may be welded or bolted behind driver’s seat not to exceed 4 inch in diameter. Bar may extend from door post to door post, but preferred to run diagonally from driver’s door to hump in floor board. A four point internal side cage (includes dash bar, side bars, and bar behind seat) will be allowed. Side bars must not extend further than 18 inches behind rear edge of front door. Side bar can not be bigger than 4 inch. You may also run a kicker from the door bar down to the floor or frame, do not extend any further forward than the front door seam, between the dash bar and seat bar, on both sides. You may connect the rear halo to the frame but can not go further back than 18 inches from the front door seam. Gas tank protectors can be used but can only be only 24 inch long. It can be 3 inch or less in diameter and must be 1 inch away from untouched sheet metal behind gas tank. You can either go forward or angle and tie back into seat bar .
5. Driver’s door must have reinforcement brace on inside or outside of door. Driver’s door bar on the outside can cover driver’s side door and passenger side door but not to exceed past passenger side door. Foam may be place in driver’s door area to protect driver. You may also stick 4x4 wooden post in the driver side door only.
6. DO NOT install special bumpers, extra weights, trailer hitches, special lift kits, or any reinforcement except as set out in rules. No modifications of suspension allowed. Shocks may not be altered but you can have the coil over shocks. No coil over shocks allowed on front end.
7. A bar or chain must be welded in where windshield would be. The windshield protector will not be used for reinforcement.
8. Door seams, trunk lid seams, and wagon gate seams may be welded with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). You can not over lay material anywhere on the car. This means do not weld a 2 inch followed by a 1 or even 2 inch. Smaller material may be used. Only outside seams may be welded. You can also weld the inner door seams with a 3” strap. This is the only thing you can weld inside of the car.
9. A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼” can be welded from front bumper to core support. A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼ can be welded from rear bumper to trunk lid. All straps on the front and back must be placed vertically.
10. Factory bumper mounts may be welded to the frame without using filler material.
11. Shock bumper mounts may be welded without using filler material.
12. Bumper swaps are allowed. Chevy to Ford, Chrysler to Chevy. No relocating of bumpers and No loaded bumpers. You may have (2) 6x3 and ½ inch thick plates laid on the outside of the bumper to help reinforce bumpers. You may put them anywhere on the outside of the bumpers only.
13. Bumper skin may be cut and folded down and welded. Can not relocate cut off bumper scraps.
14. Motor mounts may be welded as long as it does not reinforce frame. You can only go straight down and do not extend out.
15. Pre-run cars may patch a hole in the body of the car, but not replace the whole side of the car. If you patch a hole you must use sheet metal no greater than the sheet metal that makes up the original car body. This patch may overlap the outside of the hole 2”X 4” don’t push your luck
16. No welding of the suspension. You can weld main leaf mounting brackets to prevent them from coming unbolted. Rear end control arm may be shortened or lengthened but must be rewelded. You can weld coil springs at the base. (So they don’t fly out)
17. The steering column from steering wheel to gearbox may be altered.
18. Welding machines can be allowed in pit area.
19. All cars may have plates welded to the frame and you may have 6 total plates (4X6) and can be ¼ inch thick. Maximum 6 plates per car. This means fresh or used cars. If you have a preran car, and you already have 6 plates and you have to add another plate, you must completely cut one plate off to add another plate. The plates can only be welded on the side of the frames. No welding the plates on the top and bottom of the frame. ONLY 6 plates total and I am not going off square inches.
21. You may weld the core support and inner fenders to outer fenders. DO NOT USE ADDED FILLER. WELD ONLY.
22. Sedagons are allowed but you are not allowed to weld the top post to the bottom post. You can only tuck roof inside of car and use the 2 all threads or # 9 wire which is stated.
DERBY RULES
1.One driver door hit is a warning unless it is intentional. 2ND door hit and you are out.
2. If you are pushed into a driver door or are on the brakes and he door contact is a soft bump, you will be allowed to continue.
3. Anytime 2 wheels or more of the car is outside of the boundary the car will have one minute to return. Four wheels out and car is disqualified from heat.
4. Any car with gasoline spilling or leaking will be disqualified from heat.
1. Drivers must remain in their cars until the event director has declared the heat is over, except in the case of a fire.
2. When the calling goes out for each heat and final heat, driver is responsible for being on the track in 2 minutes or he will be disqualified.
3. Helmets with face shields or helmets with goggles must be worn at all times. Seat belts and shoulder harness must be worn at all times.
4. Any door that comes open will be disqualified.
5. Driver must make a hit within 1 minute
6. Cars catches on fire two times in one heat will be disqualified from heat.
2012 COMPACT CAR DEMOLITION DERBY RULES
Compact rules: 105" wheel base or less- 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder
General Rule* If car does not pass inspection or driver is unwilling to change car to pass inspection there will be absolutely NO REFUNDS!
1. All Rules will be followed, or you will NOT run!
2. Drivers must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
3. Driver must wear seat belt and helmet, along with eye protection.
4.The person, who signs in as the Driver/passenger, MUST be the Driver/Passenger for that event.
5. ALL drivers and crewmembers MUST attend the drivers meeting.
6.DO NOT hit the driver’s door! Sometimes this happens, but if it looks intentional or carelessness, you will be disqualified. Don't use your door as
a shield, it may cause you to get disqualified.
7. NO hot rodding in the pits, keep it at an idle.
8. Any open door or a fire will cause disqualification. If in heat, you may fix it and come back though the consolation.
9. NO sandbagging or holding! You will be DISQUALIFIED!
10. You are given 20 seconds to make an aggressive hit, 1minute for restarts and 1 minute if you are hung up.
11. No alcohol in the pits, if anyone is caught with alcohol, they will be disqualified, this does include their pit crew.
12. Cars are subject to re-inspection before any prize money is handed out. There is a $150 protest fee and you must be a driver in order to protest.
13. Any controversies will be taken up in the drivers meeting.
14. Any questions give us a call! If it doesn't say you can do it, don't do it. Call First!
15. Judges decisions are FINAL!
********* Car Preparation*********
1. All cars must be stock, unless modification is stated in the rules.
2. All glass, plastic, chrome, and interior must be removed from car before arriving to the derby.
3. All decking in station wagons MUST BE REMOVED!
4. Tires no bigger than 15 inch, No split rims, No Studded tires or tractor lugs. Foam filled or doubled tires OK- we don't want any flats! Valve stem
protectors OK Tires may be screwed to rims.
5. Use motor and tranny of choice, motor must be in stock location. You may chain or weld motor and tranny to keep in place (don’t strengthen the frame)
6. Rear end may be welded or locked.
7. You must use a radiator and it must be in a stock location.
8. All cars must have working brakes.
9. A- arms, ball joints and tie rods must remain stock.
10. All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.
11. Original gas tanks must be removed. You must use a boat tank or well made fuel cell and it must be properly secured and covered.
PLASTIC TANKS MUST HAVE A METAL SHEILD OVER THEM.
12. Transmission collars will be allowed, but must be safe and properly secured.
13. Batteries must be moved to passenger floorboard close to transmission. It must be properly secured and covered.
14. You must have a number IN BRIGHT colors on each front door and must have a 15" x 15" sign with car number on it for judging and recognition of car.
(OVER)
Car Building:
1. Doors, trunk lids and hatch lids may be welded solid on the outside only.
2. No welding of the frame seams
3. If you don't weld your doors, trunk, or tailgate, you can chain them with 3/8 chain or less and you are allowed 2 chains per seam.
4. ****** For drivers protection, you may weld a bar behind the seat from doorpost to doorpost, it can be X, you may also have a bar across your dash,
you may connect the dash bar to bars behind seat across the inside front door only, you may also weld your steering column in, you can also weld a
plate across the driver’s door not to exceed 6 inches past each seam. You may have a roll loop behind the seat, which may be welded to the floor and
welded or bolted to the roof- no kickers going to the back or front of the car. Back of cage including roll bar, can only be 10" from back of seat.
5. Bumpers are interchangeable. Any automotive bumper and bumper brackets may be used on any car. No homemade bumpers or brackets. You can
weld the bumper brackets or towers to the frame you can weld bumper brackets and shocks to the bumper. You can weld shocks to shock towers.
You can collapse shocks and you can bolt the shocks to the tower with 1/2" bolt or less and it must be done vertically. You may trim bumper ends
or fold them around.
No welding on the bumpers except to weld the brackets or shocks. When welding bumpers, shocks and brackets - DO NOT add any metal.
Weld Shocks and brackets solid if you wish (5- inch weld rule doesn't apply to shocks or brackets) Weld them good, we don't want any bumpers
falling off. NO PEGS!
6.****** Hood must have at least 12- inch square hole cut in case of fire.
Any holes cut in hood may be bolted back together with3/8 or less bolt. You can put bolt every 12" or 4 per hole. You will be allowed 8 hood bolts,
you MUST have at least 4 hood bolts through. Hood bolts must be sheet metal to sheet metal. Hood must be open for inspection. Plates for hood bolts
can't exceed 5x5x1/2 inch. Hood bolts can be up to 1" in diameter. Hood bolts must be sheet metal to sheet metal only you may have 2 - all thread,
from hood to frame at the radiator support only. From the top of the radiator support down 5" may be welded to all thread.
7. Wire can go from radiator support NOT HOOD to bumper in 2 spots ( 4 loops max)
8. Suspension must be stock height. Leaf springs must be stock. Leaf springs must stagger down in stock spring length from longest to smallest.
You can re clamp springs, 6 clamps per side homemade or factory. Homemade clamps can’t exceed 2x4x1/4 inch. You can put spacers in sagging
coil springs to get your height. You can bolt or wire coil springs to rear-end and frame to prevent springs from falling out. You can loop chain or
wire from rear end to frame in 1 spot each side. No bigger than#9 wire or3/8" chain or cable may be used.
9. You can run shifter through floor and you can have switch panel. You may also have a hand throttle. If you are running an electric fuel pump-
must be hooked up to your ignition switch- so when your car shuts off - it shuts off.
10 You may alter your steering column to prevent loss of steering.
11. You may cut wheel wells for tire clearance. Fenders may be bolted back together with 5 3/8 inch bolts or less. The rear quarter panel is considered
part of the rear fender.
12. You can have 1 spot wire in each window opening and may go from roof to frame. 4 loops of wire in each spot.
13. MUST have 1 bar in windshield from roof to dash for safety reasons.
1.Depending on the number of entries there may be more than one heat prior to the final feature of the
Demolition Derby.
2. Final heat- Competition will continue until only one car remains running.
3. Advanced entry fee is $25.00 (which includes car & driver) if received by August 30. $30 entry fee
at derby site.
4. Each additional pit-man is $15.00
5. First place - $500/Trophy, Second place -$200/Trophy and third place - $50/Trophy.
