2010 Kansas Championship Rules
Driver Entry
Championship open to top three positions from qualifying events.
Drivers must be 18 years old or have notarized parental consent if under 18.
No pit members under fourteen will be allowed in pits.
Prize Money
First 3,250, Second 1,800, Third 1,200, Fourth 1,000, Fifth 750.00, Sixth 600.00, Seventh 500.00, Eight 350.00, Ninth 200.00, Tenth 150.00
General Rules
SEDANS ONLY, No wagons, 70 or older Lincolns, convertibles, convertible frames, Imperials, or Imperial sub frames allowed.
All glass, chrome, pot metal, and flammable materials must be removed from vehicle.
Trunks must be empty of debris.
NO BLACK CARS
No sandbagging, No team driving, no painting undercoating or greasing of frames cars will not be inspected.
No drivers door hits.
Frame Preparation
No painting, undercoating of frames ECT. If frame has been car will not be inspected.
Frame welding exceptions, a arms forward, top seam only, ½ inch wide welds, 12 inches of weld max behind a arms but no further back than center of front doors, ½ inch wide welds, and 12 inches of weld does not have to be continuous.
Pitching or rotating of frame is allowed.
Unibody cars may weld both seams forward but may not fold over pinch weld; k members may not be welded to unibody in any way, may have solid spacers ¾ inch max.
Angle iron may be added for transmission cross member mounts no longer then 8 inches and no closer to front than OEM cross member position.
Engines may be welded to frame but only in cradle area.
Bumpers and brackets are allowed to be welded to frame; two pieces of all thread in trunk area may be welded to frame.
Watts link conversions on newer Fords allowed must be converted to standard rear end using trailing arms and brackets off of older Ford or metal of same thickness, brackets may be welded to frame one pass only and may not add strength to frame in any way.
Bumpers / Brackets
Bumper chrome may be welded to backing no added metal.
All bumpers and brackets must be passenger car origin, no rear brackets on front.
All bumper brackets and shocks must be mounted outside of frame unless factory shocks were mounted inside frame (example 80’s fords) Cadillac’s and Y frame Chryslers must be mounted outside frame.
Bumpers and brackets may be welded solid to frame; no bracket may extend further back than 10 inches from center of original core support bolt.
Two 4X8X ¼ inch straps per bumper may be welded to frame or to body or, two ¾ X8 inch all thread may be used with four inch washers max ,washers cannot be welded.
Bumper height from ground 16 inch min. 22 inch max. From bottom of bumper.
Doors
All doors may be welded solid, 4inch by ¼ inch max. Outside only, top of doors may be folded and welded with maximum ½ X ¼ straps.
Hoods
Hoods may be bolted wired or chained shut, six hood bolts 1 inch max. 5 inch washers max. must be free floating only ,front two bolts may go thru frame not to be welded to frame ,other four must be sheet metal to sheet metal .
Two Chains or two spots of wire from bumper to hood 3 inch max. Washers may be welded where wire or chain meets hood.
Will be allowed to use 3/8 bolts with 1 inch OD washers around cutouts in hood sixteen bolts max.
No hood handles
Trunks
Trunk lids must remain on hinges.
Tucking, v’ing, is allowed, no wedging allowed quarter panels must remain vertical within 3 inches of oem position (do not fold panels) may use four ¾ all thread two must go thru factory body mounts two may be welded vertically to frame in trunk area (trunk area is considered bottom of rear window to tail lights) these bolts must remain vertical, may weld six on and six off with max. Strap size of 3X6X ¼ inch on the outside perimeter of trunk lid only.
No seam welding of any part of trunk.
Fenders and Quarter Panels
Do not double crease panels all creases may only be two layers.
Quarter panel must remain vertical within 3 inches of OEM position.
Fenders may be trimmed and folded, 10 3/8 bolts with 1 inch washers may be used per quarter panel.
Quarter panel does not include rear window post.
Gas tank doors in quarter panel may be welded solid, no additional metal may be added.
There is to be NO interior seam welding.
Body rust repair
Body rust repair will be allowed but will be very limited.
Cars will be allowed only four external repairs; sheet metal must be same thickness as body, max. 4X4 inch not to be welded solid bust be 1 and 1. (Example weld one inch skip one inch)
Floor pans may be repaired must not reinforce car, only repairs accepted may be to retain gas tank, batt. Box, ect.
No rust repairs on trunk floor pan.
#9 Wire
#9 wires will be limited; two spots per window four wraps each may go to frame.
9 wire washers may be welded to body, only two washers per window, 2inch diameter max.
Unlimited after heat race.
Tires and Rims
Valve stem protectors may be used.
No strengthening of rims except around bolt holes, no split rims.
No paddle tires on rear.
Doubles, fork lift, and foam filled tires are allowed.
Suspension / Springs
No coil to leaf conversions.
No special lifts or air shocks.
Suspension must have movement, spring spacers are allowed
Rear leafs must have two inch arch, factory leaf cars must meet the following six leafs max, 2 ½ inches wide, two inch stagger 5/16 inch thick , four clamps per side must be mounted as factory leafs would be, u bolts 7/16 inch max.
May have 2 inch diameter washer welded to frame at rear shackle sole purpose of retaining shackle.
May be chained over humps but must have arch.
OEM trailing arms are required but can be reinforced.
No hood handles
