2014 LINN, KANSAS 80s & NEWER LIMITED WELD DEMOLITION DERBY RULES HELD AT THE LINN CITY PARK IN LINN, KANSAS JUNE 13 2014 6:30 PM
1 - All drivers must be 18 yrs of age or have a notarized permission slip from parent or legal guardian. 2 - Any American car or station wagon allowed. NO 03 & Newer. No Jeeps, No Trucks, No Ambulances, No Hearses or NO Convertibles. 3 - No Diesel Engines 4 - Drivers may enter each heat, but must have a different car for each heat 5 - The same car must be used in the feature heat that you qualified with and have the same driver, NO EXCEPTION. 6 - All Drivers and Pit crew must sign a release form. 7 - All cars must be in 1 hour before start time 8 - All cars must be inspected and ready to derby by starting time. SO BE HERE EARLY. 9 - Safety belts and helmets are required. GENERAL REGULATIONS 1 - Drivers must maneuver forward and backward. 2 - No driver shall deliberately hit an opponent’s car HEAD ON OR IN THE DRIVERS DOOR. 3 - NO playing possum, you must competitively hit a car every minute or you will be disqualified. 4 - ABSOLUTELY NO TEAM DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 - All drivers must attend the pit meeting prior to derby. 6 - Officials have the right to disqualify any car at any time. Official’s decisions are FINAL. 7 - NO drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be allowed to participate. 8 - ALL hoods will be opened or removed for inspection (BE PREPARED). 9 - TWO fires and you are out of that heat. This includes the finals as well. 10 - ALL drivers must wear shirt and pants, Prefer racing type suit. NO SHORTS. 11 - All people in the pit area are to stay OFF dirt mounds and track while race is on. 12 – NO ALCOHOL WILL BE PERMITTED TO BE CONSUMED IN THE PIT AREA UNTIL THE EVENT IS COMPLETELY OVER. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!

TRANSMISSION: 1 – NO Transmission Protectors 2 – “Ultra Bell” housing allowed without subsequent bracing 3 – Maximum 6”x 2”x ¼” Angle Iron Transmission Cross Member Mount 4 – NO Aftermarket Cross Member Allowed 5 – No Additional Transmission Mounts Allowed DRIVESHAFT: 1 – Drive Shaft of Choice may be used REAR END: 1 – Hybrid Rear ends allowed – Positrac is encouraged 2 – Rear end may be secured with shocks OR chains in shock location ONLY BUMPERS: 1 – NO Aftermarket Bumpers. Bumpers may be loaded and seam welded 2 – Bumpers may be attached in Factory Location – NO additional material is allowed

3 – Bumper Mounts must be original to frame FRAME: 1 – NO Re-welding of factory seams 2 – NO Altering of factory Frame 3 – Frame may be shortened to radiator support, Factory radiator mount may not be re-welded BODY: 1 – NO body shaping – This includes Tipping, Shaping, Shortening or Re-Enforcing 2 – NO Seam Welding 3 – Trunk Deck must be in 100% Stock Location 4 - #9 wire or equivalent may be used in 2 locations from roof to frame in passenger compartment thru sheet metal ONLY. Washers may NOT be welded to body 5 – Body may be mounted in factory locations with 4” diameter washers. 6 – Body spacers of 1” or greater between body and frame, may have maximum 4 inch spacer between radiator support and frame not welded 7 – NO additional body mounts are allowed 8 – Must have 2 Bars in front of driver mounted to windshield area 9 – Straps may be used in driver’s door window area 10 – Inner door seams may NOT be welded TRUNK MOUNTING: 1 – May use 2 – ¾” All Thread thru frame in stock body mount location 2 – Do NOT use All Thread to shape trunk 3 – No more than 10 - 3”x3”x1/8” plates to secure trunk to body – Sheet Metal to Sheet Metal only 4 – Speaker Deck must be in stock location 5 – Wagon Gates must be in stock location – Must be attached with 10 – 3”x3”x1/8” plates 6 – All decking must be removed from rear of wagons DOORS: 1 – May use no more than 14 – 3”x3”x1/8” plates per side of car 2 – Drivers door may have Exterior Support NOT to exceed 6” Channel Iron tapered on the ends 3 – Exterior Support may not extend more than 6’’ past drivers door 4 – No grader blades or high tensile steel HOOD: 1 – No more than 4 – ¾” hood bolts plus 2 – 1” bolts thru radiator support thru frame 2 – No more than 6” weld to sheet metal only 3 – 10 bolts maximum to secure webbing to hood FENDERS: 1 – No gusseting of fenders to anything 2 – No more than 3 – 3/8” bolts per wheel well 3 – Wheel well bolts may not exceed 3” from opening RUST REPAIR: 1 – Repairs must not exceed more than a ½” past damage 2 – Repairs must be made with like materials 3 – Repairs may be drilled upon inspections SUSPENSION: 1 – Must be Stock to car 2 – No welding of control arms to frame 3 – No Leaf Spring conversions 4 – Coil springs may have spacers TIRES & WHEELS 1 – May run tire and wheel of choice 2 – No Welding of Cleats on rim RADIATOR: 1 – Must be in Stock location 2 – No Reinforced Radiators

3 – Aluminum or Brass Radiator 4 – Radiator may be mounted by one of the following: 2 pieces of 5/16 all thread, nylon straps or wire
GAS TANK: 1 – Must be located in back seat area and securely mounted 2 – No buckets, etc. 3 – Plastic tanks must be in metal enclosure 4 – Electric Fuel Pumps MUST have a shut off switch BATTERY: 1 - Must be securely mounted in cabin area and covered 2 – No more than 2 automotive style batteries TRANSMISSION COOLER: Must be securely and safely mounted in cabin CAGE: 1 – Door bars may not exceed 60” in length 2 – May be attached to floor in 2 locations per side. Sheet Metal only 3 – Must have bar in Front and Rear of Driver 4 – Front of cage bar must not be closer than 6” from factory firewall 5 – May run Roll-Over Loop 6 – Gas Tank protector may be used attached to driver’s cage in 2 locations only, must remain a minimum of 4” from rear seat pan.
If its welded outside of rules welds cannot be cut and entry fee will not be refunded We will have a frame camera on hand to be used if there are any questions concerning frame work Following you first heat you will be supplied with 8 repair plates to be used at your discretion. Rules will be strictly enforced Official’s decisions are final

Here are the rules we used for compacts last year, We will use these again this year. Compact Classes If car does not pass inspection or driver is unwilling to change car to pass inspection - absolutely no refunds!! 1. All rules will be followed, or you will not run!! 3. Drivers must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Ages 14 –17 must have a notarized permission slip and some form of driver’s license. The person that signs in as the driver must be the driver for that event! 4. Driver must wear seat belt and helmet, along with eye protection. 5. ALL drivers must attend the drivers meeting. 6. DO NOT hit the driver’s door! Sometimes this happens, but if it looks intentional or carelessness, you will be disqualified. Don’t use your door as a shield; it may cause you to get disqualified. 7. No hot rodding in the pits, keep it at an idle. 8. Any open driver’s door or fire will cause disqualification. If in heat, you may fix it and come back in the consolation. 9. NO sandbagging or holding!!! You will be disqualified! You are given 20 seconds for aggressive hits, 1 minute for restarts and 1 minute if you are hung up. 10. No alcohol in the pits, if anyone is caught with alcohol, they will be disqualified, this includes their pit crew. 11. Cars are subject to re-inspection before any prize money is handed out. 12. Any controversies will be taken up at the drivers meeting. 13. Any questions give us a call! If it doesn’t say you can do it, don’t do it. Call 1st!! Judges decisions are FINAL!!! Car Preparation 1. All cars must be stock, unless modification is stated in the rules. 2. All glass, plastic, chrome, and interior must be removed from car before arriving to the derby. 3. All decking in station wagons MUST be removed!!! 4. Tires no bigger than 15 inch, No split rims, No studded tires. Foam filled or Doubled tires OK-we don’t want any flats!!! Valve stem protectors OK. Tires may be screwed to rims. 5. Driver must have a fire coat or non-flammable jacket to wear while driving in event. 6. Driver must have safety approved glasses or face shield. Driver needs to have FULL faced helmets. 7. You must use a radiator and it must be in stock location. All cars must have working brakes. 9. A-arms, ball joints remain stock. 10. All trailer hitches and braces must be removed. 11. Original gas tanks must be removed. You must use a boat tank or well made fuel cell and it must be properly secured and covered. No gas cans. Plastic gas tanks must be placed in a metal box!! Fuel line must be secured and fastened properly. Keep away from exhaust. Place fuel cell behind driver’s seat or in the center of the car where the back seat, use to be. Compacts read additional rules on back! SUSPENSION: 11. Suspension must be at stock height. Leaf springs must be stock, you may add one spring as long as the main leaf spring, you can't wrap the added leaf spring to make a double main - tow packages OK. The Main leaf spring must be the top spring in the spring pack and leaf springs must stagger down with at least a 2 inch stagger from longest to smallest. You can re-clamp springs, 6 clamps per side homemade or factory. Homemade clamps can’t exceed 2x4x1/4 inch. You can put spacers in sagging coil springs to get your height. You can bolt or wire coil springs to rear-end and frame to prevent springs from falling out. You may weld leaf spring mounting brackets to prevent them from becoming unbolted. You can loop chain or wire from rear end to frame in 1 spots on each side. No bigger than #9 wire or 1/2” chain or cable may be used. 12. Mopars can weld mounting brackets to uni-body where leaf springs are mounted factory to uni-body frame. Include rear shackle box. 13. Rear-end control arms may be reinforced, but must be workable. They may be shortened or made longer as well. No Homemade!! 14. Use rear end of choice, must be factory 5 lugs. You can tilt rear end if you wish. Welded or posi-track highly recommended 15. Rear-end Housings may be re-enforced. Hybrid rear-ends are allowed 16. Front arms may be bolted or chained down to get your bumper height. ENGINE MOUNTING: 17. Engine mounts may be welded to engine cradle. Engine must be mounted in stock location. 18. Use motor and tranny of choice, motor must be in stock location. You may chain or weld motor and tranny to keep in place (don’t strengthen the frame). 19. You may have a 2-2” strap from the motor head to frame on top side of frame next to A-arm on front side of motor and can be welded with no added metal! You will be allowed 2- 2” straps on the rear of the motor connected from the motor heads to the Frame, but must be on the top side of frame within 3 inches of the back side of A-arms. If this is used to re-enforce frame, straps will be cut! STEERING: 20. Tie-rods ends must be stock, but the center can be re-enforced, A-arms, ball joints and all other steering/suspension must remain stock. You may alter your steering column to prevent loss of steering. Steering knuckles, homemade steering shafts, etc. FENDERS & BUMPERS: 21. You may cut wheel wells for tire clearance & you may weld fender over tire back together. Fenders may also be bolted together with 5-3/8” bolts or each. The rear quarter panel is considered part of the rear fender. Bumpers may be loaded but must remain the stock shape. No reshaping the bumper at all. Must be a factory bumper. No homemade bumpers. Must appear stock. Welding the bumper skins is allowed. MISC: 22. For safety, you are allowed 1 strap in each door window opening straps can be 2” wide – ¼” thick and can be welded 5” on the door & 5” on the roof – you may not use wire if you use straps ** Hardtop cars may have another strap at the door post. You must have 2 bars in windshield from roof to dash for safety reasons. 23. You can run shifter through floor and you can have a switch panel. You may also have a hand throttle. If you are running an electric fuel pump – must be hooked up to your ignition switch – so when your car shuts off – it shuts off 24. You are allowed 2 spots with 4 loops of wire (no cable or chain) in each window opening and may go to the frame. No welding washers around holes on car body. 25. You may run wire from frame rail to frame rail underneath back of car, behind rear-end with 4 loops of wire or 1 loop of 3/8 chain/cable in 1 spot only. This must go around the frame; this can not be bolted to the frame. 26. You are allowed to weld Factory body seams weld 6 skip 6. Body seams only NOT FRAME!!!!!!! 27. Dist. Cap Protector allowed. The protector must be mounted to engine heads and intake only. There must be 12 inches of clearance between the Dist. Cap protector and the dash bar at the start of the event. Dist. Cap protector can't be mounted to body, frame or cage. Dist. Cap Protector or firewall sheet metal. RUST REPAIR & FRAME REPAIR: 28. You may repair rusted out sheet metal with sheet metal only. Leave the rust in place and repair over it. Rusted out frames may be repaired with 1/8 inch or less. You are allowed to weld the patch 2 inches past the rusted out area, leave the rust in place. 29. Bent frames my be repaired with 1/8 inch metal 2 inches past the bend, but only on 1 side of the frame. The patch may be welded solid, but you must have a 1/2 inch hole in the patch. You can only repair the frame once in each place. No re-patching or layering of patches. 30. No fresh undercoating in frames. We have the right to make you burn it off. COMPACT CLASS: In addition to the above rules- 4 & 6 Cylinders only. 1. Any-Front wheel driver compact car with 108” or less wheel base but rear wheel driver cars must have a 106” or less wheel base. 2. If the stock gas tank is located under the car but in front of rear axle, the stock gas tank may be used.

Payout for 1st place is as follows: 80s and Newer Limited Weld - $1500.00 Compacts - $700.00 Rest of payout and paid places will be determined the day of the derby depending on car count.
$40.00 Fee for Car and Driver If you pre-register on or before 5/17/14 fee for Car and Driver will be $20.00 Pit Passes - $20.00
Attached is the entry form. This can be printed off and filled out prior to the derby. This will save time at check in.
