Nice evening for a derby. Congrats to David Earl on the win in a box vic. Steven Martin 2nd. Josh Eikman 3rd. I spoke with a member of the Plainville Rescue Squad about some issues, and probably won't get anywhere. Nice fella to talk with and I apologize for not remembering his name. The fair board gets all the money from the Grandstands, PRS gets everything in the pits. He's asked the FB for more lights and they've done nothing. He's tried to get with other derbies to make a more common set of rules. I suggested just use someone else's like Swonger/Pasek rules. It all comes back to the fact that if they are making money and enough cars show up, changes will not come. Cutting the bumpers off the Hobo cars was just plain ridiculous. I told a couple drivers to refuse to use the front of the car and I think they listened. Alot of driving around and I don't blame them. I would of loaded up. I came up with a couple Ideas on the way home. 1. If the Fair board won't work with the PRS, and they split the gate money, just move the pit further away from the Grandstands and put up more bleachers of your own.
2. Next year if Swonger doesn't change his rules much, let's just declare them Kansas Unified Rules. If we put that label on it, maybe we can market the idea of a Unifed set of rules. If fairboards and independent promoters like PRS hear that 'Kansas Unifed Rules' they might just think they ought to join in. I think most drivers are happy with those rules. That's just an idea I had to move us to common rules.

GOOD IDEA ON THE UNIFIED RULES..... ANYONE WITH A TORCH AND WELDER CAN BUILD A COMPETITIVE CAR WITH THOSE RULES, NEW OR OLD IRON........THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING, IT MAKES MORE SENSE NOW THAN EVER TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR DRIVERS TO RUN MULTIPLE SHOWS WITH THE SAME CAR. WOULD HELP CAR COUNTS, AND THE "IM BURNED OUT BUILDING FOR 3 DIFFERENT SHOWS" FEELING.......

it would make more sense for everyone to the same rules because i am tired of cutting my cars apart to run one show

Lighting was horrendous. That had to be the worst lighting I've ever seen, or couldn't see. I don't see how anyone in the grandstands could see a thing. I would have been asking for my money back if I would have taken my family to this event.

Chevyman, I forgot to mention that. Glad you brought it up. I went to the drivers meeting and heard, "we don't want anyone hurt" in reference to the drivers door hits. Then in his next breath he says we have a $50 prize if you roll someone over. What happened to saftey? We aren't built to roll over. I sure don't want to be rolled over. My suggestion about just using someone else's rules to get the ball rolling was because it is next to impossible to get together for a meeting. The best we could do is an internet meeting on this forum with driver input for a given amount of time, and that would be a challenge also. Adopting another promoter's rules just seems most simple way to move toward unified rules.

Why not adopt the state championship rules? Swonger's rules are all but full weld rules... under hood welding, top & bottom seam, suck body tight... only thing missing is the interior seams & the rest of the frame from the doors back...
The championship rules would be about the easiest to inspect & would be easy to take from qualifying show to qualifying show

Not alot of welding in Championship rules. Wouldn't be able to take it from show to show 'cause she'd be used up.

Swonger/Patek rules allow some welding and you could possibly use a car more than once.

You can run a GSA/State Championship car more than once, it's all about the repair rules.

I DOUBT WITH USING GAS`S RULES, THAT MANY CARS WOULD BE LEFT FOR ANOTHER DERBY...UNLESS THEY WERENT HITTING ANYTHING..... SWONGERS RULES ARE FAR FROM FULL WELD...... GSA`S RULES ARE FROM THE ICE AGE.......
