inspections begin at 4PM and will continue until all cars are inspected. $30 per car and $25 pit pass. There will be a MAD DOG prize one for bolt and chain and one for welded classes not sure on the amounts yet. I'll post when I get a good figure.

2016 Demolition Derby Rules
These rules will be used at the Championship and all other demos in 2016.
Stock class is open to all men and women 16 and over. Driver must have a driver’s license or proof of age. In fairness to all, the following rules and regulations shall prevail. If under 18 you must have a Parents Signature. Must by 18 and over for Cowley County Fair.
This is a stock class and it will remain a stock class so do not do any more than what is stated in these rules. These rules state what you may do if not in here you can’t do it. Do not do anything to make your car illegal after inspection. If this happens you will be disqualified and there will be no return of entry fee. Officials have the right to re-inspect your cars at any time.
PRIZE MONEY is guaranteed
PARTICIPANT REGULATIONS
Drivers may move forward or backward. They must make contact every 60 seconds or be disqualified. There will be no sandbagging or team driving. If you sandbag/team driving, the race will be stopped and you will be disqualified. No team driving allowed, not even on a sandbagger. If an official sees you have the ability to make a clean hit and you lock your brakes up to slide into them, you will be issued a sandbagging flag official’s decision is final. Cars must move when hit or show visible damage. No driver’s door hits will be allowed. No using the driver’s door for a shield will be allowed.
SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Cars must have at least 2 bars attached from the roof down to the dash area to prevent the hood from coming in. you may use chain or 2 in. by 3/16 steel bars welded no more than 4 inches on roof or firewall area.
2. Radiator over flow hoses must be pointed at the ground and fastened so they cannot shoot water towards officials or other drivers.
3. Header pipes must be pointing straight up. They cannot be aimed towards front or side of cars.
4. Note: If you have a hole in the fire wall, it must be covered.
5. Safety belts are required. Must be worn at all times when in arena.
6. D.O.T. approved helmets are mandatory. Any driver using an open faced helmet will be required to wear safety goggles or shield.
7. Helmets must be worn at all times when in the arena.
8. Mandatory: You must wear long pants and a shirt. (fire suit recommended)
9. Allowed 1 fire unless it’s a fuel fire second fire is a disqualifier. Then you must show official when re-entering arena it was fixed.
10. No alcoholic beverages or drugs are allowed in pit area or on the track.
11. NO PIT PERSONS ALLOWED ON THE TRACK. No drivers or fans in contact with judges if you or pit persons or fans of yours are in contact with judges you will be disqualified. If driver crawls out of car during a stop in action then you must exit arena area.
12. Note: Management does have the right to disqualify a car/driver at any time. Any person on the track or in the pit, causing trouble and not complying with the rules, will be asked to leave. (We can have you escorted off or have you arrested and banned from running future derbies.)
13. Protests must be made no later than 5 minutes after the heat or consolation in question. No protests will be taken after feature event. Only Drivers in this class are allowed to protest a car. $50 protest fee you get it back if you are right if not the driver you protested gets the protest money.
PREPARATION OF CARS
No screws are allowed on outside of car. NO PLASTIC GAS TANKS. (Heavy duty plastic racing fuel cells are allowed.) No wedging, no sedagons, no jeeps, no trucks (ranchero and El Caminos are considered trucks), no carryalls, no hearse, no limos, no convertibles, no imperials 73 and older or imperial subs. No sub changes. All glass, chrome, pot metal, lights, carpet, headliner, back seats, fiber glass and anything else that is flammable must be removed before reaching the exhibit area. (Do not break glass down in the doors.) Trunks must be empty of all debris, spare tire rims, parts, etc. Wagons must have spare tire flap removed or hole cut in it for inspectors to see.
ABSOLUTELY NO welding besides what is stated in these rules. All 9 wire must be tied to the car so not to fall off in the arena. UNLIMITED 9-WIRE. This does not apply where rules specify how much wire you can use, i.e. doors and bumpers or Where used for reinforcement.
MANDATORY
Car must have number on the roof with name on roof above front doors. Use your choice of number. You must have a roof sign with minimum of 12 inch numbers on both sides of sign. No profanity allowed on cars.
ENGINE
Engines must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc. You may change carburetor, intake, and ignition. You may use 2 chains to retain one on each side or use two straps, 2 in. by 3/16 thick to hold motor in. It can ONLY be welded to TOP of frame no more than 3 inch long weld. The strap cannot be farther forward than the stock mounted water pump. You may use header pipes. Must have stock motor mount bolted or welded to cross member, If stock mount not used it will be up to the inspection to ok best to use stock mount. If welded you may not add any material. This is a stock show. No engine cradles or dp’s.
RADIATORS
It must be an automotive radiator, remain stock, and in the stock location. No home made radiators allowed.
TRANSMISSION
They must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar. Transmission coolers are allowed. They must have double clamps on all rubber to steel lines. No transmission protectors allowed. They must be stock. They may have chain to secure. Cross member must be bolted in. If you don’t have a cross member you must use a piece of 2x4x1/4 C- Chanel and it must be bolted in with a max 4- 3/8 bolts with 1 inch od washers.
BATTERY
The battery must be in the front passenger side and be covered with something nonflammable like rubber tube, rubber floor mat, etc. Batteries must be secured so they don’t move. 2-12 volt batteries max.
SUSPENSION
Suspension must remain stock. No welding on shocks, no trailer hitches, special lifts, blocks, air shackles, air shocks. Air lifts must be deflated. Screw in spring spacers ok. Shocks ok if after market. No homemade shocks.
REAR ENDS
Rear ends must be 5 lug, GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar. Locking of the rear ends permitted. Stock mounting for make, year and model of car required. No braces or axle protectors. You may use a 3/8 chain around frame and to axle 1 wrap only. You may 9 wire or chain lower coil spring to spring pocket. After market gears in rear end are allowed.
DRIVE SHAFTS
It must be OEM stock drive shaft. Must be make to make gm to gm ford to ford ect.
TRAILING ARMS & A-ARMS
They must be factory with absolutely no reinforcing, shortening or lengthening. You may 9 wire A-arms or bolt down with 5/8 max bolt with 1 ½ od washers. Or you may use 1 3/8 chain 1 wrap around a-arm to frame per side.
STEERING COLUMN/BRAKES/SHIFTER
The steering column must be stock. You may put steering knuckle at rag joint. Brakes must work. You may use a bolt in pedal assembly in the drivers floor board and must be bolted to sheet metal only. You may put shifter on the floor or attached to the tranny. A cable shifter is ok.
HOOD
The hood must remain in factory position mounted on factory hinges. Six (6) hood bolts are allowed and only 2 may go through the frame outside of radiator at the core support. All thread cannot be directly in front or behind the radiator. Bolts must not be any bigger than 1 inch with washers no bigger than 5 inches outside diameter. You must have 2 holes cut in the hood big enough for a fire extinguisher, not directly over the carburetor. You may use 20 bolts around header holes no bigger than SAE 3/8 with washer no bigger than 1 inch outside diameter.
TRUNK
You can use 4- 1 in. bolts in trunk and 2 may go through frame with washers no bigger than 5 inches outside diameter. Trunk lids must remain on factory hinges. Tucking or V’ing of trunk lid is allowed, but absolutely no wedging. You may chain or 9 wire or bolt with 3/8 bolts with 1 inch od washers up to 10 places total on deck lid, if bolting it can only go through drip edge. Wagon gates are considered same as deck lid.NO MORE THAN 50% OF TRUNK MAY BE TUCKED.
BODY
No seam welding and no patching is allowed. Pre-denting is okay. Body must be stock to frame.
FENDERS
Fenders may be trimmed and 10 bolts may be used per fender. Bolts are to be no bigger than 3/8 with washers no bigger than 1 inch outside diameter. You may have 2 wraps 4 strands of 9 wire from fender to fender in front of radiator not connected to bumper. This wire must be ran behind or in front of wire from core support or hood to bumper.
BODY MOUNT BOLTS
They must be factory. Bushings must be factory. If missing a body bolt, you may use factory size bolt for fix. If bushing is missing, you may wire mount with 9 wire. Do not remove rubber mount or you will 9 wire it or load it.
FRAME
Absolutely no welding is allowed on frame. No reinforcing of frame whatsoever. You can notch the frame. You may pre bend frame. You may not put fix-it patch on a fresh car. You may patch or fix the frame with a max of 6-6x4x1/4 plates per car. Three (3) patches are allowed per frame rail uni-body cars will be considered 1 frame rail per side. There must be visible damage to the frame, i.e. tear or bend. A patch may not be closer than 1 inch to another patch, which means 1 inch between welds on patch. If you have to patch after your heat and have 6 plates, one must be removed before one is added.
DOORS
Driver’s door may be welded solid with a strap no bigger than 3 inches, on the outside only. On the driver’s only, you may reinforce inside the car however you want as long as it does not attach to the frame and does not go past door seams of driver’s door more than 8 inches and is deemed safe by inspectors. You must have a safety bar welded or bolted. If bolted, must have 4 bolts through bar to body. Bar cannot go past door seam by more than 8 inches. All other doors may be chained up to 6 placed per door or wired 6 places per door. On wagon’s tailgates, NO WELDING is allowed.
CAGE
You may have a cage with two side bars, one on the driver’s door and one on the passenger door; and two cross bars, one behind the seat and one at the dash. The cage cannot extend past the dash area in the front and must be no further back than 8 inches behind the front seat or behind the front doors, rear door seam, i.e. 2 door cars. This can be welded in. Absolutely no kickers are allowed. You may have 5 down bars. They cannot go to the frame. sheet metal only. You may have a halo bar it cannot be any farther back than the seat bar. None of the cage or halo can connect to the frame. A halo cannot connect to the windshield bars or the roof sign.
BUMPERS
No welding on bumpers. They can be wired, chained from mount to mount. You may remove brackets but cannot add any, i.e. you can put bolts or chain anywhere between the mounts to the car, 6 bolts 1 inch max 24 inches long per piece may be used to bolt front and rear bumper on. No welding of shocks or brackets. If you have an aluminum bumper you may change it to a stock model bumper for that make. Bumper swaps are ok; must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar. Brackets must be stock to the car you are running. No changing the mounting brackets for the make, model and year of car is allowed. Brackets must be in stock mounting position on frame. NO WELDING OF SKINS. Make sure the bumpers are well secured. We don’t want to pick them up all night.
GAS TANKS
A maximum of 7 gallons of gas is allowed. Fuel cells/metal boat tanks must be placed in back seat area and properly secured. NO STOCK TANKS. Fuel cells must be secured so there is no movement. (Do not use bungee cords for this.) If tank is not secure you will not be running. Fuel cells must have secure caps and be leak proof. All fuel lines must have no leaks. Stock gas tanks must be removed or have holes in them and washed out. NO PLASTIC TANKS. (Heavy plastic racing fuel cells may be used.) Tanks must be covered with non-flammable material. Tank must be mounted in center or behind driver’s seat.
TIRES/ Wheels
Any tire allowed up to 16 inch, Tire inside of tire is okay. No fluid allowed inside of tires. No valve stem protectors allowed. no wheel weights. Make sure you remove them even from your spares. Weld in centers are allowed maximum of 9 inch diameter and ¼ thick. Maximum of 16 inch wheels will be allowed.
2016 qualifying rules for chain and bolt.
1. Must have 8 points to qualify for championship race in 2016.
2. Winner of a race will receive 6 points.
3. Top 8 get 5 points per race.
4. If show has a maddog he will get 4 points for the race.
5. Show up to a race ,car passes inspection and you run in at least one heat you will receive 3 points.
These points are not added up per race IE. If you show up and win the race u get 6 points, not 3 for showing up, 5 for top eight and 6 for the win. Once you qualify if you place in the points your points will go to the guy who placed below you until it stops at 8th place.
You may repair your cars to a factory fix in the pit the night of the race. If during inspection after the show the inspectors find it to be excessive, you will be ejected and forfeit your winnings.

2. Any make of automobile, 1950 and up may be entered as long as the vehicle is not a pickup, truck, or jeep. No four wheel drives, NO ambulances or hearses will be allowed. No trucks, jeeps, convertibles, and carryalls.
3. All glass, chrome, name plates, pot metal, plastic, small grill prices, and anything else that might break off or fall off must be removed from car prior to entry on grounds. No wagon decking will be allowed.
4. Batteries must be moved to front seat compartment and fastened securely. Batteries and fuel cells must be covered with rubber mat. No more than two (2) automotive or marine batteries allowed. Crate, metal plate, wood, foam is acceptable. 5. You may have a fire extinguisher must be placed in car and securely mounted within easy access to the driver.
6. Any car with gasoline or oil spilling or leaking will be disqualified from heat.
7. Drivers must remain in their cars until the event director has declared the heat is over or stopped except in the case of a fire. Helmets must be on at all times while in the arena.
8. When the calling goes out for each heat and final heat, driver is responsible for being on the track in 2 minutes or he will be disqualified.
9. Helmets with face shields or helmets with goggles must be worn at all times. Seat belts and or shoulder harness must be worn at all times. If removed during show your flag will be broken.
10. Any door that comes open will be disqualified.
PREPARATION OF CARS
ENGINE
Modifications are allowed but the car must be running on gasoline. NO ALCOHOL or Other fuel. Air cleaner must be left in place. Air cleaner must be on car during inspection and while on the track. Firewalls must be covered with inter tube if there is a hole. Distributor protectors allowed, must be attached to engine or transmission only, backside must be no wider than 12 inches Distributor protector can touch firewall. Motor mounts may be welded as long as it does not reinforce frame. You can only go straight down and do not extend out. No added metal. Cradle’s and DP’s ok. You may have 2 straps 3 inch x 3/8 inch 1 per side to hold motor in may only weld to top of frame no father forward than the water pump.
Radiators
Radiators and stock fans may be removed but not relocated. An electric fan may be mounted to the radiator. You may run stock fan in stock location or run an electric fan on the radiator but not both. You cannot use your heater core for a radiator. Air conditioning condenser cores may be placed in front of the radiator. No other reinforcement such as expanded metal may be used.
TRANSMISSION
Any Transmission ok. Transmission coolers may be placed inside the car. Electric fans or ice may be used. Fan must be covered with a guard.
BATTERY
Batteries must be moved to front seat compartment and fastened securely. Batteries must be covered with rubber mat. No more than two automotive or marine batteries allowed.
SUSPENSION
DO NOT install extra weights, trailer hitches, special lift kits, or any reinforcement except as set out in rules. No modifications of suspension unless stated. Shocks may not be altered but you can have after-market coil over shocks. No homemade shocks.
Coil spring rear end cars can NOT be changed to a leaf spring rear end. No main leafs may be substituted for sub leafs. All cars may have a total of 9 leafs and can only be 5/16 inches thick. You must also make sure you have a 2 inch stagger. You can have 4 extra clamps per side on rear of leaf springs and they can only be no bigger than 2inch wide by 4inch long by ¼ inch thick. You can have 2 extra clamps per side in front of axle on leaf springs. You can have factory twist in spacers in rear coils spring. You may weld the bottom side of the coil spring to the spring pocket. May chain rear differential to the floor or humps. (1-3/8 chain max) per side. NO PINNING anywhere in the frame if found you will be disqualified.
May tie frame rails together at rear end with 1- 3/8 chain, (no further forward than axle hump). You can weld main leaf mounting brackets to prevent them from coming unbolted. Rear-end control arm may be shortened or lengthened but must be rewelded. You can weld coil springs at the base. (So they don’t fly out).
Brakes
All cars must have working brakes.
REAR ENDS
You may use maximum of a ¾ ton rear end and must be 6 lug only. Only have 5 lug nuts total per wheel and NO full floater rear-ends allowed. You may brace the back housing but cannot have axle protectors. You can weld main leaf mounting brackets to prevent them from coming unbolted. Rear-end control arm may be shortened or lengthened but must be rewelded. You can weld coil springs at the base. (So they don’t fly out).
DRIVE SHAFTS
You may use any drive shaft stock or slider.
TRAILING ARMS & A-ARMS
You may reinforce tie rods with a 3/8 by 8 inch rod, no modification of A arms, leaf springs and coil. This means you can swap out A arm for A arm but you cannot reinforce A arm with added metal. A-arms can use (two) 5/8 bolts per A-arm or you can use (two) 3/8 chains per A-Arm per side to hold down the a-arm. You cannot bolt and chain one or the other. You can have factory twist in spacers in front coils.
On rear trailing arms, You can stuff upper and lower control arms on coil spring car or use 2x2 square tubing 1/8 thick for upper and lower control arms.
Watts-Link Conversions – You may convert a Watts Link Ford to a Standard GM rear end in the following way: Use the trailing arm brackets off an older Ford of the same size and thickness, no homemade brackets, No positioning of the brackets to strengthen the front down leg of the rear hump. You may cut out the coil spring frame tray from an earlier Ford and weld it in the newer Ford. When welding only one pass ¼”maximum no stronger than stock. No added metal in the conversion it must be clean or you will load it. No homemade bracket will be allowed
STEERING COLUMN/BRAKES/SHIFTER
The steering column from steering wheel to gearbox may be altered. You may run shifter of choice. You may run after market pedal set up must be mounted to sheet metal only.
HOOD
The hood must be securely bolted with a maximum of six (6) all threads not to exceed one inch in diameter (must be able to open). The only bolts or all thread allowed to go through the frame are the two located at the radiator core support. All other bolts or all thread must be sheet metal to sheet metal only. Hood washers may not exceed 3/8 inch thick by 5 inch square. No added material used. You cannot weld on hoods, You can use 20 bolts which can be 3/8 bolt with 1inch od washer to reattach braces to hood. Holes must be cut in hood, (a min. of (2) 6”by 6” each) A 12” hole must be cut in trunk.
TRUNK
Two bolts or all thread (not to exceed 1 inch in diameter) are allowed in the trunk and can go thru frame. Trunk may be chained around rear bumper but must not go around the frame or rear axle. Car trunk lids may be folded inside the trunk compartment. You cannot weld lid inside of car. Must be able to inspect inside of the trunk area to make sure nothing is welded. A 12” hole must be cut in trunk.
BODY
You can pre-fold body but you cannot weld, this means do not create your own seems and weld. . Door seams, trunk lid seams, and wagon gate seams may be welded with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). You cannot over lay material anywhere on the car. Smaller material may be used. Only outside seams may be welded. No welding will be allowed inside of cars. If a car is brought in with welds, you must cut all the way through and no slobbers allowed.
Sedagons are allowed but you are not allowed to weld the top post to the bottom post. You can only tuck roof inside of car and must have a 12 inch inspection hole.
Do not open up any of the crush boxes and plate or even bolt inside of the crush box.
I am also going to have a cheat sheet on the thickness of the frames in certain locations, if frame is determined to be thicker, load it up. Do not fill in any holes on the frames unless it is behind a plate
Core Support
You may weld the core support and inner fenders to outer fenders. DO NOT USE ADDED FILLER. WELD ONLY. Core support may not be moved forward or backwards from stock location.
FENDERS
Trimming the body for tire clearance allowed (a maximum of (10) Ten 3/8 inch bolts per wheel well with a maximum 1 inch O.D. washer) will be allowed. You may cut and weld rear fender wells also. You may not do both you may bolt or weld.
BODY MOUNT BOLTS
Body mounts may be changed to 1 inch bolts or less. A 5” by 5” by ¼” plate may be used inside the car as a washer on the top side of the body mounts. Bottom of bolts may only have a factory washer 2inch od max. You can suck body to frame. Do not weld body to frame. You may add 2 extra body mounts inside of car only. Rear humps forward. Not in trunk area.
FRAME
No paint or undercoating allowed on frames.
The only welding on the frame is from the transmission cross member forward and can only be ½ inch wide weld. Top and bottom seams only. DO NOT use any filler or strap for welding top and bottom seams. Do NOT weld anywhere else on the frame unless stated. Do not X frame.
You are allowed to tilt the frame, you must tilt at the A-piller, no further back than 6 inches from firewall and not further forward than 6 inches in front of firewall. , (You are allowed to cut the frame at the box, pull it down, and re-weld it.), you may tilt frames but you may only use 12 inches of weld per side. No homemade gussets will be allowed. No added metal will be allowed in the tilt cuts, weld only.
2003 and Newer Fords, Do not change out the aluminum cross member it must remain stock. You can change steering components but they must not weld to the frame. Bolted in with no modifications.
K-frames must leave one ear up. Y-frames you can close the gap with a 1/4 inch thick plate but must have 1/2 hole for scoping. All cars must have a ½ hole per side behind core support in front of Arms in frame, and (1) HOLE BEHIND THE A-ARMS IN FRONT OF THE FORWARD BODY MOUNT per side for a scope inspection hole. It can be a stock hole or you will drill a hole for us. If you show up without one you will not run. No Frame Pinning and No Frame Lacing, nothing will be allowed inside of the frame.
All framed holes must be open, no welding shut or washers added!
All cars may have plates welded to the frame and you may have 6 total plates (4X6) and can be ¼ inch thick. Maximum 6 plates per car fresh or used. Max of 3 per frame rail. You must leave an inch between welds on plates. This means you cannot butt plates together. If you have a preran car and you already have 6 plates and you have to add another plate, you must completely cut one plate off to add another plate. The plates can only be welded on the side of the frames. No welding the plates on the top and bottom of the frame. ONLY 6 plates total and I am not going off square inches.6 max 4x6 plates.
DOORS
Driver’s door must be welded with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). Driver’s door must have reinforcement brace on inside or outside of door. Driver’s door bar on the outside can be bolted or welded and may only go past the driver’s door forward seam by 12 inches and to the rear of the driver’s door seam by 12 inches. Foam may be place in driver’s door area to protect driver. All doors may be securely welded on the outside only with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). You can fold top of doors down and weld together. Pre-run cars may patch a hole in the door skins of the car, but not replace the whole side of the car. If you patch a hole you must use sheet metal no greater than the sheet metal that makes up the original car body. This patch may overlap the outside of the hole 2”X 4”, don’t push your luck.
CAGE
A safety bar may be welded or bolted behind driver’s seat not to exceed 4 inch in diameter. Bar may extend from door post to door post. A four point internal side cage (includes dash bar, 1 side bar per side, and bar behind seat) will be allowed. Side bars must not extend further than 8 inches behind rear edge of front door. Side bar cannot be bigger than 4 inch. You may also run a kicker from the door bar down to the floor or frame, do not extend any further forward than the front door seam, between the dash bar and seat bar, on both sides. You may connect the rear halo to the frame but cannot go further back than 8 inches from the rear seam of the front door. Gas tank protectors can be used but can only be 14 inch long. It must be 3 inch or less in diameter and must be 3 inches away from untouched sheet metal behind and under gas tank. You can either go forward or angle and tie back into seat bar.
If you run a Distributor Protector do not mount your dash bar closer than 6 inches from the back of the distributor protector or tranny protector. If you do not run a distributor protector, you may run a kicker from frame to dash bar but can only go 4 inches in front of firewall. Kicker can be no bigger than 1 inch and can only be welded on the top side of frame. It cannot go down the side of the frame. You can have 1 kicker per side or a distributor protector/tranny protector not both. 2 (Two) bars or chains must be welded in where windshield would be. The windshield protector will not be used for reinforcement. These bars must remain 6 inches from the outside of the farthest outside edge of the distributor protector. They may not connect to the halo bar or roof sign.
BUMPERS
A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼” can be welded from front bumper to core support. A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼ can be welded from rear bumper to trunk lid. All straps on the front and back must be placed vertically. They can only be welded to bumper 6 inches and 6 inches to the deck lid and 6 inches to the core support. Factory bumper mounts may be welded to the frame without using filler material. You may only weld 12 inches back from core support on front shocks and 12 inches forward on rear shocks from edge of frame. Shock bumper mounts may be welded without using filler material. You may only weld 12 inches back from core support on front shocks and 12 inches forward on rear shocks from edge of frame. No homemade Pontiac bumper brackets will be allowed. Bumper swaps are allowed. Chevy to Ford, Chrysler to Chevy.
You may load the front and rear stock bumpers with (ONE) 2 3/8 pipe only or you can plate the FRONTSIDE of the bumper with a (ONE) 5 inch wide and ½ inch thick plate from bumper end to bumper end. You can have one or the other. No concrete or wood. NO OTHER METAL WILL BE ALLOWED ON OR IN THE BUMPER. IF SO, YOU MUST CUT OFF ALL EXTRA METAL BESIDES THE STRAPS THAT GO FROM THE BUMPER TO THE CORE SUPPORT. You must leave ends of bumper open for inspection. You may hard nose the front bumper to frame the Front bumper may have a 6X6 and ½ inch thick plate welded to the bumper and also to the frame.
I will allow homemade bumpers but can only be built this way: You may have a 4X6 square tubing and can be ¼ inch thick side walls. You cannot fill in square tubing. Bumper ends must be left open for inspection. The length of the bumper cannot go past the outside of the front tires. Do not cover this with an existing chrome bumper. You homemade bumper cannot be built any other way.
A homemade Bumper must be flat no point.
Bumper skin may be cut and folded down and welded. Cannot relocate cut off bumper scraps. You are not allowed to remove or reposition bumpers in any way except what is stated.
GAS TANKS
The stock gas tanks must be removed. A maximum 12x12x8=4 gallon gas tank if home made it must meet these specs, must be located in the rear seat compartment and fastened and covered securely with non-combustible material. You must run a 3/8 fuel line max, it must be ran in the most direct route to the carburetor, If you run a fuel cooler it cannot be any larger than 12x12x12 with a max of 6 wraps of 3/8 line. No other fuel supply will be allowed. Judges decision is final. TIRES/ Wheels
No tires larger than 16” allowed. A tire mounted inside of a tire is allowable
WHEELS: No bead locks or screwed wheel. 16 inch wheel are allowed. No solid wheels are allowed. You may run weld in centers but they must not be larger than a 9 inch in diameter.
You may repair your cars to in the pit the night of the race. If during inspection after the show the inspectors find it to be excessive, or not to the rules you will be ejected and forfeit your winnings.
Do not do any more than what is stated in these rules. Do not do anything to make your car illegal after inspection. If this happens you will be disqualified and no entry fee will be returned. Officials have the right to re-inspect your cars at any time.

2016 Demolition Derby Rules
These rules will be used at the Championship and all other demos in 2016.
Stock class is open to all men and women 16 and over. Driver must have a driver’s license or proof of age. In fairness to all, the following rules and regulations shall prevail. If under 18 you must have a Parents Signature. Must by 18 and over for Cowley County Fair.
This is a stock class and it will remain a stock class so do not do any more than what is stated in these rules. These rules state what you may do if not in here you can’t do it. Do not do anything to make your car illegal after inspection. If this happens you will be disqualified and there will be no return of entry fee. Officials have the right to re-inspect your cars at any time.
PRIZE MONEY is guaranteed
PARTICIPANT REGULATIONS
Drivers may move forward or backward. They must make contact every 60 seconds or be disqualified. There will be no sandbagging or team driving. If you sandbag/team driving, the race will be stopped and you will be disqualified. No team driving allowed, not even on a sandbagger. If an official sees you have the ability to make a clean hit and you lock your brakes up to slide into them, you will be issued a sandbagging flag official’s decision is final. Cars must move when hit or show visible damage. No driver’s door hits will be allowed. No using the driver’s door for a shield will be allowed.
SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Cars must have at least 2 bars attached from the roof down to the dash area to prevent the hood from coming in. you may use chain or 2 in. by 3/16 steel bars welded no more than 4 inches on roof or firewall area.
2. Radiator over flow hoses must be pointed at the ground and fastened so they cannot shoot water towards officials or other drivers.
3. Header pipes must be pointing straight up. They cannot be aimed towards front or side of cars.
4. Note: If you have a hole in the fire wall, it must be covered.
5. Safety belts are required. Must be worn at all times when in arena.
6. D.O.T. approved helmets are mandatory. Any driver using an open faced helmet will be required to wear safety goggles or shield.
7. Helmets must be worn at all times when in the arena.
8. Mandatory: You must wear long pants and a shirt. (fire suit recommended)
9. Allowed 1 fire unless it’s a fuel fire second fire is a disqualifier. Then you must show official when re-entering arena it was fixed.
10. No alcoholic beverages or drugs are allowed in pit area or on the track.
11. NO PIT PERSONS ALLOWED ON THE TRACK. No drivers or fans in contact with judges if you or pit persons or fans of yours are in contact with judges you will be disqualified. If driver crawls out of car during a stop in action then you must exit arena area.
12. Note: Management does have the right to disqualify a car/driver at any time. Any person on the track or in the pit, causing trouble and not complying with the rules, will be asked to leave. (We can have you escorted off or have you arrested and banned from running future derbies.)
13. Protests must be made no later than 5 minutes after the heat or consolation in question. No protests will be taken after feature event. Only Drivers in this class are allowed to protest a car. $50 protest fee you get it back if you are right if not the driver you protested gets the protest money.
PREPARATION OF CARS
No screws are allowed on outside of car. NO PLASTIC GAS TANKS. (Heavy duty plastic racing fuel cells are allowed.) No wedging, no sedagons, no jeeps, no trucks (ranchero and El Caminos are considered trucks), no carryalls, no hearse, no limos, no convertibles, no imperials 73 and older or imperial subs. No sub changes. All glass, chrome, pot metal, lights, carpet, headliner, back seats, fiber glass and anything else that is flammable must be removed before reaching the exhibit area. (Do not break glass down in the doors.) Trunks must be empty of all debris, spare tire rims, parts, etc. Wagons must have spare tire flap removed or hole cut in it for inspectors to see.
ABSOLUTELY NO welding besides what is stated in these rules. All 9 wire must be tied to the car so not to fall off in the arena. UNLIMITED 9-WIRE. This does not apply where rules specify how much wire you can use, i.e. doors and bumpers or Where used for reinforcement.
MANDATORY
Car must have number on the roof with name on roof above front doors. Use your choice of number. You must have a roof sign with minimum of 12 inch numbers on both sides of sign. No profanity allowed on cars.
ENGINE
Engines must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc. You may change carburetor, intake, and ignition. You may use 2 chains to retain one on each side or use two straps, 2 in. by 3/16 thick to hold motor in. It can ONLY be welded to TOP of frame no more than 3 inch long weld. The strap cannot be farther forward than the stock mounted water pump. You may use header pipes. Must have stock motor mount bolted or welded to cross member, If stock mount not used it will be up to the inspection to ok best to use stock mount. If welded you may not add any material. This is a stock show. No engine cradles or dp’s.
RADIATORS
It must be an automotive radiator, remain stock, and in the stock location. No home made radiators allowed.
TRANSMISSION
They must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar. Transmission coolers are allowed. They must have double clamps on all rubber to steel lines. No transmission protectors allowed. They must be stock. They may have chain to secure. Cross member must be bolted in. If you don’t have a cross member you must use a piece of 2x4x1/4 C- Chanel and it must be bolted in with a max 4- 3/8 bolts with 1 inch od washers.
BATTERY
The battery must be in the front passenger side and be covered with something nonflammable like rubber tube, rubber floor mat, etc. Batteries must be secured so they don’t move. 2-12 volt batteries max.
SUSPENSION
Suspension must remain stock. No welding on shocks, no trailer hitches, special lifts, blocks, air shackles, air shocks. Air lifts must be deflated. Screw in spring spacers ok. Shocks ok if after market. No homemade shocks.
REAR ENDS
Rear ends must be 5 lug, GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar. Locking of the rear ends permitted. Stock mounting for make, year and model of car required. No braces or axle protectors. You may use a 3/8 chain around frame and to axle 1 wrap only. You may 9 wire or chain lower coil spring to spring pocket. After market gears in rear end are allowed.
DRIVE SHAFTS
It must be OEM stock drive shaft. Must be make to make gm to gm ford to ford ect.
TRAILING ARMS & A-ARMS
They must be factory with absolutely no reinforcing, shortening or lengthening. You may 9 wire A-arms or bolt down with 5/8 max bolt with 1 ½ od washers. Or you may use 1 3/8 chain 1 wrap around a-arm to frame per side.
STEERING COLUMN/BRAKES/SHIFTER
The steering column must be stock. You may put steering knuckle at rag joint. Brakes must work. You may use a bolt in pedal assembly in the drivers floor board and must be bolted to sheet metal only. You may put shifter on the floor or attached to the tranny. A cable shifter is ok.
HOOD
The hood must remain in factory position mounted on factory hinges. Six (6) hood bolts are allowed and only 2 may go through the frame outside of radiator at the core support. All thread cannot be directly in front or behind the radiator. Bolts must not be any bigger than 1 inch with washers no bigger than 5 inches outside diameter. You must have 2 holes cut in the hood big enough for a fire extinguisher, not directly over the carburetor. You may use 20 bolts around header holes no bigger than SAE 3/8 with washer no bigger than 1 inch outside diameter.
TRUNK
You can use 4- 1 in. bolts in trunk and 2 may go through frame with washers no bigger than 5 inches outside diameter. Trunk lids must remain on factory hinges. Tucking or V’ing of trunk lid is allowed, but absolutely no wedging. You may chain or 9 wire or bolt with 3/8 bolts with 1 inch od washers up to 10 places total on deck lid, if bolting it can only go through drip edge. Wagon gates are considered same as deck lid.NO MORE THAN 50% OF TRUNK MAY BE TUCKED.
BODY
No seam welding and no patching is allowed. Pre-denting is okay. Body must be stock to frame.
FENDERS
Fenders may be trimmed and 10 bolts may be used per fender. Bolts are to be no bigger than 3/8 with washers no bigger than 1 inch outside diameter. You may have 2 wraps 4 strands of 9 wire from fender to fender in front of radiator not connected to bumper. This wire must be ran behind or in front of wire from core support or hood to bumper.
BODY MOUNT BOLTS
They must be factory. Bushings must be factory. If missing a body bolt, you may use factory size bolt for fix. If bushing is missing, you may wire mount with 9 wire. Do not remove rubber mount or you will 9 wire it or load it.
FRAME
Absolutely no welding is allowed on frame. No reinforcing of frame whatsoever. You can notch the frame. You may pre bend frame. You may not put fix-it patch on a fresh car. You may patch or fix the frame with a max of 6-6x4x1/4 plates per car. Three (3) patches are allowed per frame rail uni-body cars will be considered 1 frame rail per side. There must be visible damage to the frame, i.e. tear or bend. A patch may not be closer than 1 inch to another patch, which means 1 inch between welds on patch. If you have to patch after your heat and have 6 plates, one must be removed before one is added.
DOORS
Driver’s door may be welded solid with a strap no bigger than 3 inches, on the outside only. On the driver’s only, you may reinforce inside the car however you want as long as it does not attach to the frame and does not go past door seams of driver’s door more than 8 inches and is deemed safe by inspectors. You must have a safety bar welded or bolted. If bolted, must have 4 bolts through bar to body. Bar cannot go past door seam by more than 8 inches. All other doors may be chained up to 6 placed per door or wired 6 places per door. On wagon’s tailgates, NO WELDING is allowed.
CAGE
You may have a cage with two side bars, one on the driver’s door and one on the passenger door; and two cross bars, one behind the seat and one at the dash. The cage cannot extend past the dash area in the front and must be no further back than 8 inches behind the front seat or behind the front doors, rear door seam, i.e. 2 door cars. This can be welded in. Absolutely no kickers are allowed. You may have 5 down bars. They cannot go to the frame. sheet metal only. You may have a halo bar it cannot be any farther back than the seat bar. None of the cage or halo can connect to the frame. A halo cannot connect to the windshield bars or the roof sign.
BUMPERS
No welding on bumpers. They can be wired, chained from mount to mount. You may remove brackets but cannot add any, i.e. you can put bolts or chain anywhere between the mounts to the car, 6 bolts 1 inch max 24 inches long per piece may be used to bolt front and rear bumper on. No welding of shocks or brackets. If you have an aluminum bumper you may change it to a stock model bumper for that make. Bumper swaps are ok; must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar. Brackets must be stock to the car you are running. No changing the mounting brackets for the make, model and year of car is allowed. Brackets must be in stock mounting position on frame. NO WELDING OF SKINS. Make sure the bumpers are well secured. We don’t want to pick them up all night.
GAS TANKS
A maximum of 7 gallons of gas is allowed. Fuel cells/metal boat tanks must be placed in back seat area and properly secured. NO STOCK TANKS. Fuel cells must be secured so there is no movement. (Do not use bungee cords for this.) If tank is not secure you will not be running. Fuel cells must have secure caps and be leak proof. All fuel lines must have no leaks. Stock gas tanks must be removed or have holes in them and washed out. NO PLASTIC TANKS. (Heavy plastic racing fuel cells may be used.) Tanks must be covered with non-flammable material. Tank must be mounted in center or behind driver’s seat.
TIRES/ Wheels
Any tire allowed up to 16 inch, Tire inside of tire is okay. No fluid allowed inside of tires. No valve stem protectors allowed. no wheel weights. Make sure you remove them even from your spares. Weld in centers are allowed maximum of 9 inch diameter and ¼ thick. Maximum of 16 inch wheels will be allowed.
2016 qualifying rules for chain and bolt.
1. Must have 8 points to qualify for championship race in 2016.
2. Winner of a race will receive 6 points.
3. Top 8 get 5 points per race.
4. If show has a maddog he will get 4 points for the race.
5. Show up to a race ,car passes inspection and you run in at least one heat you will receive 3 points.
These points are not added up per race IE. If you show up and win the race u get 6 points, not 3 for showing up, 5 for top eight and 6 for the win. Once you qualify if you place in the points your points will go to the guy who placed below you until it stops at 8th place.
You may repair your cars to a factory fix in the pit the night of the race. If during inspection after the show the inspectors find it to be excessive, you will be ejected and forfeit your winnings.

2. Any make of automobile, 1950 and up may be entered as long as the vehicle is not a pickup, truck, or jeep. No four wheel drives, NO ambulances or hearses will be allowed. No trucks, jeeps, convertibles, and carryalls.
3. All glass, chrome, name plates, pot metal, plastic, small grill prices, and anything else that might break off or fall off must be removed from car prior to entry on grounds. No wagon decking will be allowed.
4. Batteries must be moved to front seat compartment and fastened securely. Batteries and fuel cells must be covered with rubber mat. No more than two (2) automotive or marine batteries allowed. Crate, metal plate, wood, foam is acceptable. 5. You may have a fire extinguisher must be placed in car and securely mounted within easy access to the driver.
6. Any car with gasoline or oil spilling or leaking will be disqualified from heat.
7. Drivers must remain in their cars until the event director has declared the heat is over or stopped except in the case of a fire. Helmets must be on at all times while in the arena.
8. When the calling goes out for each heat and final heat, driver is responsible for being on the track in 2 minutes or he will be disqualified.
9. Helmets with face shields or helmets with goggles must be worn at all times. Seat belts and or shoulder harness must be worn at all times. If removed during show your flag will be broken.
10. Any door that comes open will be disqualified.
PREPARATION OF CARS
ENGINE
Modifications are allowed but the car must be running on gasoline. NO ALCOHOL or Other fuel. Air cleaner must be left in place. Air cleaner must be on car during inspection and while on the track. Firewalls must be covered with inter tube if there is a hole. Distributor protectors allowed, must be attached to engine or transmission only, backside must be no wider than 12 inches Distributor protector can touch firewall. Motor mounts may be welded as long as it does not reinforce frame. You can only go straight down and do not extend out. No added metal. Cradle’s and DP’s ok. You may have 2 straps 3 inch x 3/8 inch 1 per side to hold motor in may only weld to top of frame no father forward than the water pump.
Radiators
Radiators and stock fans may be removed but not relocated. An electric fan may be mounted to the radiator. You may run stock fan in stock location or run an electric fan on the radiator but not both. You cannot use your heater core for a radiator. Air conditioning condenser cores may be placed in front of the radiator. No other reinforcement such as expanded metal may be used.
TRANSMISSION
Any Transmission ok. Transmission coolers may be placed inside the car. Electric fans or ice may be used. Fan must be covered with a guard.
BATTERY
Batteries must be moved to front seat compartment and fastened securely. Batteries must be covered with rubber mat. No more than two automotive or marine batteries allowed.
SUSPENSION
DO NOT install extra weights, trailer hitches, special lift kits, or any reinforcement except as set out in rules. No modifications of suspension unless stated. Shocks may not be altered but you can have after-market coil over shocks. No homemade shocks.
Coil spring rear end cars can NOT be changed to a leaf spring rear end. No main leafs may be substituted for sub leafs. All cars may have a total of 9 leafs and can only be 5/16 inches thick. You must also make sure you have a 2 inch stagger. You can have 4 extra clamps per side on rear of leaf springs and they can only be no bigger than 2inch wide by 4inch long by ¼ inch thick. You can have 2 extra clamps per side in front of axle on leaf springs. You can have factory twist in spacers in rear coils spring. You may weld the bottom side of the coil spring to the spring pocket. May chain rear differential to the floor or humps. (1-3/8 chain max) per side. NO PINNING anywhere in the frame if found you will be disqualified.
May tie frame rails together at rear end with 1- 3/8 chain, (no further forward than axle hump). You can weld main leaf mounting brackets to prevent them from coming unbolted. Rear-end control arm may be shortened or lengthened but must be rewelded. You can weld coil springs at the base. (So they don’t fly out).
Brakes
All cars must have working brakes.
REAR ENDS
You may use maximum of a ¾ ton rear end and must be 6 lug only. Only have 5 lug nuts total per wheel and NO full floater rear-ends allowed. You may brace the back housing but cannot have axle protectors. You can weld main leaf mounting brackets to prevent them from coming unbolted. Rear-end control arm may be shortened or lengthened but must be rewelded. You can weld coil springs at the base. (So they don’t fly out).
DRIVE SHAFTS
You may use any drive shaft stock or slider.
TRAILING ARMS & A-ARMS
You may reinforce tie rods with a 3/8 by 8 inch rod, no modification of A arms, leaf springs and coil. This means you can swap out A arm for A arm but you cannot reinforce A arm with added metal. A-arms can use (two) 5/8 bolts per A-arm or you can use (two) 3/8 chains per A-Arm per side to hold down the a-arm. You cannot bolt and chain one or the other. You can have factory twist in spacers in front coils.
On rear trailing arms, You can stuff upper and lower control arms on coil spring car or use 2x2 square tubing 1/8 thick for upper and lower control arms.
Watts-Link Conversions – You may convert a Watts Link Ford to a Standard GM rear end in the following way: Use the trailing arm brackets off an older Ford of the same size and thickness, no homemade brackets, No positioning of the brackets to strengthen the front down leg of the rear hump. You may cut out the coil spring frame tray from an earlier Ford and weld it in the newer Ford. When welding only one pass ¼”maximum no stronger than stock. No added metal in the conversion it must be clean or you will load it. No homemade bracket will be allowed
STEERING COLUMN/BRAKES/SHIFTER
The steering column from steering wheel to gearbox may be altered. You may run shifter of choice. You may run after market pedal set up must be mounted to sheet metal only.
HOOD
The hood must be securely bolted with a maximum of six (6) all threads not to exceed one inch in diameter (must be able to open). The only bolts or all thread allowed to go through the frame are the two located at the radiator core support. All other bolts or all thread must be sheet metal to sheet metal only. Hood washers may not exceed 3/8 inch thick by 5 inch square. No added material used. You cannot weld on hoods, You can use 20 bolts which can be 3/8 bolt with 1inch od washer to reattach braces to hood. Holes must be cut in hood, (a min. of (2) 6”by 6” each) A 12” hole must be cut in trunk.
TRUNK
Two bolts or all thread (not to exceed 1 inch in diameter) are allowed in the trunk and can go thru frame. Trunk may be chained around rear bumper but must not go around the frame or rear axle. Car trunk lids may be folded inside the trunk compartment. You cannot weld lid inside of car. Must be able to inspect inside of the trunk area to make sure nothing is welded. A 12” hole must be cut in trunk.
BODY
You can pre-fold body but you cannot weld, this means do not create your own seems and weld. . Door seams, trunk lid seams, and wagon gate seams may be welded with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). You cannot over lay material anywhere on the car. Smaller material may be used. Only outside seams may be welded. No welding will be allowed inside of cars. If a car is brought in with welds, you must cut all the way through and no slobbers allowed.
Sedagons are allowed but you are not allowed to weld the top post to the bottom post. You can only tuck roof inside of car and must have a 12 inch inspection hole.
Do not open up any of the crush boxes and plate or even bolt inside of the crush box.
I am also going to have a cheat sheet on the thickness of the frames in certain locations, if frame is determined to be thicker, load it up. Do not fill in any holes on the frames unless it is behind a plate
Core Support
You may weld the core support and inner fenders to outer fenders. DO NOT USE ADDED FILLER. WELD ONLY. Core support may not be moved forward or backwards from stock location.
FENDERS
Trimming the body for tire clearance allowed (a maximum of (10) Ten 3/8 inch bolts per wheel well with a maximum 1 inch O.D. washer) will be allowed. You may cut and weld rear fender wells also. You may not do both you may bolt or weld.
BODY MOUNT BOLTS
Body mounts may be changed to 1 inch bolts or less. A 5” by 5” by ¼” plate may be used inside the car as a washer on the top side of the body mounts. Bottom of bolts may only have a factory washer 2inch od max. You can suck body to frame. Do not weld body to frame. You may add 2 extra body mounts inside of car only. Rear humps forward. Not in trunk area.
FRAME
No paint or undercoating allowed on frames.
The only welding on the frame is from the transmission cross member forward and can only be ½ inch wide weld. Top and bottom seams only. DO NOT use any filler or strap for welding top and bottom seams. Do NOT weld anywhere else on the frame unless stated. Do not X frame.
You are allowed to tilt the frame, you must tilt at the A-piller, no further back than 6 inches from firewall and not further forward than 6 inches in front of firewall. , (You are allowed to cut the frame at the box, pull it down, and re-weld it.), you may tilt frames but you may only use 12 inches of weld per side. No homemade gussets will be allowed. No added metal will be allowed in the tilt cuts, weld only.
2003 and Newer Fords, Do not change out the aluminum cross member it must remain stock. You can change steering components but they must not weld to the frame. Bolted in with no modifications.
K-frames must leave one ear up. Y-frames you can close the gap with a 1/4 inch thick plate but must have 1/2 hole for scoping. All cars must have a ½ hole per side behind core support in front of Arms in frame, and (1) HOLE BEHIND THE A-ARMS IN FRONT OF THE FORWARD BODY MOUNT per side for a scope inspection hole. It can be a stock hole or you will drill a hole for us. If you show up without one you will not run. No Frame Pinning and No Frame Lacing, nothing will be allowed inside of the frame.
All framed holes must be open, no welding shut or washers added!
All cars may have plates welded to the frame and you may have 6 total plates (4X6) and can be ¼ inch thick. Maximum 6 plates per car fresh or used. Max of 3 per frame rail. You must leave an inch between welds on plates. This means you cannot butt plates together. If you have a preran car and you already have 6 plates and you have to add another plate, you must completely cut one plate off to add another plate. The plates can only be welded on the side of the frames. No welding the plates on the top and bottom of the frame. ONLY 6 plates total and I am not going off square inches.6 max 4x6 plates.
DOORS
Driver’s door must be welded with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). Driver’s door must have reinforcement brace on inside or outside of door. Driver’s door bar on the outside can be bolted or welded and may only go past the driver’s door forward seam by 12 inches and to the rear of the driver’s door seam by 12 inches. Foam may be place in driver’s door area to protect driver. All doors may be securely welded on the outside only with 3” by 1/4 “strap or with ½” rebar (in line with the seam). You can fold top of doors down and weld together. Pre-run cars may patch a hole in the door skins of the car, but not replace the whole side of the car. If you patch a hole you must use sheet metal no greater than the sheet metal that makes up the original car body. This patch may overlap the outside of the hole 2”X 4”, don’t push your luck.
CAGE
A safety bar may be welded or bolted behind driver’s seat not to exceed 4 inch in diameter. Bar may extend from door post to door post. A four point internal side cage (includes dash bar, 1 side bar per side, and bar behind seat) will be allowed. Side bars must not extend further than 8 inches behind rear edge of front door. Side bar cannot be bigger than 4 inch. You may also run a kicker from the door bar down to the floor or frame, do not extend any further forward than the front door seam, between the dash bar and seat bar, on both sides. You may connect the rear halo to the frame but cannot go further back than 8 inches from the rear seam of the front door. Gas tank protectors can be used but can only be 14 inch long. It must be 3 inch or less in diameter and must be 3 inches away from untouched sheet metal behind and under gas tank. You can either go forward or angle and tie back into seat bar.
If you run a Distributor Protector do not mount your dash bar closer than 6 inches from the back of the distributor protector or tranny protector. If you do not run a distributor protector, you may run a kicker from frame to dash bar but can only go 4 inches in front of firewall. Kicker can be no bigger than 1 inch and can only be welded on the top side of frame. It cannot go down the side of the frame. You can have 1 kicker per side or a distributor protector/tranny protector not both. 2 (Two) bars or chains must be welded in where windshield would be. The windshield protector will not be used for reinforcement. These bars must remain 6 inches from the outside of the farthest outside edge of the distributor protector. They may not connect to the halo bar or roof sign.
BUMPERS
A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼” can be welded from front bumper to core support. A maximum of (2) straps 2” by ¼ can be welded from rear bumper to trunk lid. All straps on the front and back must be placed vertically. They can only be welded to bumper 6 inches and 6 inches to the deck lid and 6 inches to the core support. Factory bumper mounts may be welded to the frame without using filler material. You may only weld 12 inches back from core support on front shocks and 12 inches forward on rear shocks from edge of frame. Shock bumper mounts may be welded without using filler material. You may only weld 12 inches back from core support on front shocks and 12 inches forward on rear shocks from edge of frame. No homemade Pontiac bumper brackets will be allowed. Bumper swaps are allowed. Chevy to Ford, Chrysler to Chevy.
You may load the front and rear stock bumpers with (ONE) 2 3/8 pipe only or you can plate the FRONTSIDE of the bumper with a (ONE) 5 inch wide and ½ inch thick plate from bumper end to bumper end. You can have one or the other. No concrete or wood. NO OTHER METAL WILL BE ALLOWED ON OR IN THE BUMPER. IF SO, YOU MUST CUT OFF ALL EXTRA METAL BESIDES THE STRAPS THAT GO FROM THE BUMPER TO THE CORE SUPPORT. You must leave ends of bumper open for inspection. You may hard nose the front bumper to frame the Front bumper may have a 6X6 and ½ inch thick plate welded to the bumper and also to the frame.
I will allow homemade bumpers but can only be built this way: You may have a 4X6 square tubing and can be ¼ inch thick side walls. You cannot fill in square tubing. Bumper ends must be left open for inspection. The length of the bumper cannot go past the outside of the front tires. Do not cover this with an existing chrome bumper. You homemade bumper cannot be built any other way.
A homemade Bumper must be flat no point.
Bumper skin may be cut and folded down and welded. Cannot relocate cut off bumper scraps. You are not allowed to remove or reposition bumpers in any way except what is stated.
GAS TANKS
The stock gas tanks must be removed. A maximum 12x12x8=4 gallon gas tank if home made it must meet these specs, must be located in the rear seat compartment and fastened and covered securely with non-combustible material. You must run a 3/8 fuel line max, it must be ran in the most direct route to the carburetor, If you run a fuel cooler it cannot be any larger than 12x12x12 with a max of 6 wraps of 3/8 line. No other fuel supply will be allowed. Judges decision is final. TIRES/ Wheels
No tires larger than 16” allowed. A tire mounted inside of a tire is allowable
WHEELS: No bead locks or screwed wheel. 16 inch wheel are allowed. No solid wheels are allowed. You may run weld in centers but they must not be larger than a 9 inch in diameter.
You may repair your cars to in the pit the night of the race. If during inspection after the show the inspectors find it to be excessive, or not to the rules you will be ejected and forfeit your winnings.
Do not do any more than what is stated in these rules. Do not do anything to make your car illegal after inspection. If this happens you will be disqualified and no entry fee will be returned. Officials have the right to re-inspect your cars at any time.
