General Rules
1. NO SANDBAGGING!!!! SANDBAGGERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!!! WE MAY HAVE A SPECIAL TREAT FOR YOU IF YOU ARE SANDBAGGING – this will be left up to the promoter!!!! Drivers will have 20 seconds to make an aggressive hit!!!! If your car is stalled, you will have one minute to restart, and one minute to make a hard it. NO PLAYING POSSUM (pretending car is stalled)!!!!!!!!
2. NO TEAM DRIVING!!!! If you are team driving, we will stop the derby. On your first offense, you and your team will have the option to be immediately disqualified for the rest of the derby or to shut your cars off and sit without moving for 1½ minutes. All of team is disqualified, or sits without moving. If you move or start your car before your time is up and the officials give you the green flag, you are disqualified for the rest of the derby. On your second offense you will be immediately disqualified. If disqualified for team driving, all prize money will be forfeited to the next ranking cars.
3. NO DELIBERATE HITTING OF THE DRIVER’S DOOR!!!! NO SHOWING YOUR DRIVER’S DOOR. IF YOU PULL YOUR DOOR IN FRONT OF A MOVING CAR AND STOP, YOU ARE FAIR GAME TO BE HIT IN THE DRIVERS DOOR. WE WILL NOT DISQUALIFY THE CAR THAT HITS YOU FOR THIS! IF THE JUDGES FEEL THAT YOU HIT A DRIVER’S DOOR DELIBERATELY, YOU MAY GET A WARNING OR YOU MAY NOT AND MAY BE DISQUALIFIED.
4. All persons entering the pit area must sign a release and waiver of liability.
5. All drivers must stay in their cars with seat belts fastened until the derby is over, or the red flag is displayed. Failure to stay in your car until the red flag is displayed will result in disqualification and forfeiture of all prize money and trophies.
6. All drivers and pit crew must be at least 16 years of age. Parent/legal guardian consent form must be notarized for drivers who are under the age of 18. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license. All pit crew must show a valid photo ID to confirm age.
7. All drivers must wear an approved helmet, eye protection, and seatbelt. Safety gloves, fire suit, and neck collar and full face helmets are highly recommended. No shorts, cut-offs, etc. permitted.
8. Good sportsmanship and professional behavior is expected of all drivers and crew members. Failure to comply with these rules may lead to suspension from future events.
9. There will be absolutely no profane signs or derogatory comments allowed on cars as this is a family event. Any car displaying such language will not be permitted to compete until it is removed.
10. No pit crew members or spectators are allowed in the arena at any time.
11. The driver must be the only crew member to voice any concerns concerning the derby only to the head official. No pit crew or fans will be acknowledged in case of a dispute.
12. No pets allowed.
13. All drivers must attend the driver’s meeting.
14. All cars are given two chances to pass tech inspection.
15. The driver is responsible for his/her pit crew. In all instances.
16. No alcohol or drinking in the pit area before or during the demolition derby. If you are caught drinking, you will be immediately disqualified and escorted out of the pit area with all monies and entry fees forfeited and donated to the derby fund.
17. Any driver who is caught cheating and cannot fix the problem before the derby will forfeit his/her entry fee. NO exceptions! All winning cars will be re-inspected prior to collecting prize monies if necessary. Just because it is not listed does not mean that it can be done. Use common sense and good sportsmanship, or don’t waste time loading a car up! All rules are under the discretion of the head official with safety first in mind.
18. A $250 protest fee must be paid in cash before the feature for any discrepancies. You may not protest an entire car. You must notify the head official of what is wrong with the car you are protesting. If you protest a car, your car will also be re-inspected.
19. All entry fees must be paid before inspection or unloading of your car.
20. All cars in powder puff must have competed during the regular derby.
21. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE FUN!!!!
22. Judge’s decisions are final and binding!!!!!! No replays!!!!
NO ADDED BOLTS, CHAINS, WIRE, CABLE, ETC. FROM BODY TO FRAME OR BODY TO BUMPER!!!
IF IT DOES NOT SAY IT IN THESE RULES, DO NOT DO IT!!!!
GRAY AREAS CAN AND WILL BE TORCHED IF NECESSARY!!!!
