Jon,
I've heard alot about you and love to see you come to one of my events. I would like to put a face with a name. I think you have met my partner( Richard Goematt) before.

This question isn't for you rob but for the fair board.. You drop a class that paid a total of almost 5k (old iron) and you wanna bring your car count up and bring this derby back to when it was huge.. Why don't you throw 3 grand more in the big car class and atleast another grand into the small cars and make it worth our while to come and compete instead of throwing the money back in your pockets ?

This is how it works this year. The fair hired R&R promotions to come promote/run their event for the fair.
We are working on more prize money for each class. I don't know what the payout was last year, so I can judge that. I don't think this payout with paying out more spots in the Big car is a bad thing.
I feel it's a good start to making changes for the better.
Sometimes I've seen payouts that are high scare away driver as well because they think there will be too many professionals at that event and that they don't have a chance.
Anyways, I'll be making a trip down there in April to talk with some sponsors to add to the payout s for each class.
I decided to drop the old iron class because they told me the car count has dropped alot and that was my decision.
Hope you understand where I'm coming from with this?
Also, We are looking at possibly of a 2 man team derby in both classes for the fall.- OCT
What do you guys think of that?

I THUINK OLD IRON COUNTS ARE DOWN ALL AROUND. MOST GUYS ARE SICK OF THE REGULAR "BUDDY SYSTEM" THAT MANY SEEM TO HAVE WITH PROMOTERS AND INSPECTORS, AND GET DISENCHANTED FROM SPENDING MONEY ON OLD IRON, ONLY TO GET BEATEN BEFORE THEY EVEN GET TO RUN. JUST AN OBSERVATION FROM MY BEING HERE ONLY 6 YEARS. I AM SURE IT HAS GONE ON LONGER THAN THAT. ALOT LONGER..............

If we got a certified set of rules it would be better but you would have make the rules the same as building a 80's and newer car for a mid 70's car.

AGREED. ALMOST ANY CAR WITH A DISTRIBUTOR PROTECTOR WILL BE ON EQUAL GROUND,EVEN WITHOUT TILTING. THE CARS HAVE TO GET DESTROYED SOMEHOW,RIGHT? THATS WHAT ITS ABOUT..NOT HOUR AND HALF LONG FEATURES WHERE HALF THE CROWD HAS LEFT AND THE OTHERS THAT STAYED ARE ALL BOOING....I HAVE SEEN SOME REALLY WHACK ASS RULES THAT WERE ALLOWED TO BE DONE TO LET AN 80`S CAR RUN WITH OLD IRON..TRUST ME, OLD IRON CAN BE FOUND FOR THE SAME PRICE AS A COMPLETE 80`S VIC OR LINCOLN, I DO IT ALL YEAR ROUND. THEY ARE OUT THERE. NO REASON TO PENALIZE THE OLD IRON DRIVERS BY ALLOWING THINGS TO BE DONE THAT ARENT NEEDED TO COMPETE....LETS GET THE BALL ROLLING SO THAT MAYBE IN 2012 WE CAN ALL RUN THE SAME SET OF RULES.......DIFFERENT CLASSES?? IM ALL FOR THAT ,BUT ONLY IF CAR COUNTS ARE ENOUGH TO RUN THEM SEPERATE.......
