1. Each driver participating as an entry must submit a completed registration form. You must be 18 years old unless a completed release form is filled out by a parent or guardian and notarized.
2. All people coming into the pits must sign a “Wavier & Release of Liability” of “Hold Harmless Agreement” form releasing Lyon County Fair Assn. its officers and directors and Lyon County Commissioners from any and all liability resulting from participation in this event.
3. No one less than fourteen years of age will be allowed in pit area. Pit area will be cleared on non authorized personal thirty minutes prior to derby.
4. Any car with gasoline spilling or leaking will be disqualified.
5. Any driver who gets all four wheels of his car out of the boundary lines is automatically disqualified, unless otherwise stated at drivers meeting.
6. All drivers must remain in their cars with safety helmets and belts securely fastened until the announcer has officially declared the heat over. In case of fire, the driver shall exit the car immediately. A driver breaking his own flag or leaving the vehicle during the head for any reason except fire is automatically disqualified from further competition.
7. The maximum time allowed for stalls is 1 ½ minutes. After a restart contact must be made within 1 minute to avoid being disqualified. All timing stops during times when the red flag is out.
8. Anyone hitting the driver’s door of another will be disqualified. Concerning accidental hits; the official will first decide if the hit was accidental; if the hit was not judged as accidental the driver is disqualified immediately; if the hit is judged accidental, the driver will be warned, and the second driver-side hit will result in disqualification regardless of judged intent.
9. Drivers disqualified for any reason must break off their flag (a lathe) immediately and stop. Failure to do so could result in further hits to the vehicle after disqualification.
10. Drivers intentionally hitting disqualified vehicles will be disqualified immediately.
11. Judges will pick winners and the decision is final.
12. Any driver who continues to argue with officials, or if his pit crew causes problems, his car will be disqualified and all money will be forfeited.
13. If for a good of competition the judges see fit to alter the program they are free to do so at their decision.
14. NO DRINKING WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE PIT AREA. This includes drivers & pit crew. Anyone caught consuming alcohol (whether driver or pit crew) will be automatically disqualified.
15. No team or possum driving. Such could result in disqualification of all drivers involved.
16. All vehicles must be removed from the fairgrounds property within 24 hours of the completion of the derby. Failure to do such will result in all prize money monies earned by the vehicle being forfeited by stop-payment and disposition of the vehicle at the owner’s expense. Such penalties shall be enforced by the Lyon County Fair Board through Administrative Aide of the Board of Lyon county Commissioners.
17. The Derby Director may elect to remove a participant and or one or all members of his pit crew from the arena at any time for good reasons by misconduct. In doing so, all prize monies earned by the vehicle are forfeited. If this occurs to any of the mentioned participants or combination thereof, the Derby Director may elect removal and not allow the prize money earned. In either case the ejected individuals will be allowed back in the arena at the conclusion of the Derby unless unlawful conduct prohibits it otherwise. In this case the policy on the removal of the vehicle shall stand and be enforced.
18. A driver may only run in the consolidation one time.
19. JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL. Prize monies will be available at the conclusion of the Derby.
20. COMPLAINTS: a written complaint will have to be filed with a fair board member or judge and a DEPOSIT OF $125.00 IN CASH MUST ACCOMPANY THE COMPLAINT. If nothing is found to be wrong with the car being inspected, the money ($125.00) will go to the owner of the car. If something is found wrong with the car the ($125.00) will go to the fairboard
