Would like to give a big ole pat on the back for Brandon and Tony on a well organized event. Inspections were good, everything was on time. Could not ask for a better and more personable group of guys. Even the track officials, I don't have one complaint about the show, I will definitely come back year after year based solely on the crew not to mention the 18 other drivers once again the most friendly group ive ever been around made it a great night. Congratulations to Shane for the win, ive got the final 6 minutes of us shane on video looked fun from the stands let alone from the drivers seat. I thought everyone did there part, it was nice to meet everyone. Shane McGlaughlin is a stand up guy and id go to battle with him anyday if he needed me to, Todd Morgan nice to meet ya again once again hell of a guy. Good job to the lady in the 91ish stock vic on her first ever show and a 5th place.....both women in fact exceded expectations good to see them out there....,,,My car is an easy fix, the frame horns ripped off the frame sending the bumper flat up against the radiator/core support and into the fan, ass end 90d perfect, ill post some pics....Thanks again to everyone involved in making this happen and to the 18 other drivers that supported the event.........-Mac Cole "X"

Kudos to everyone who played a part in last night's derby.. Thanks to the drivers for putting on a good show. I was happy to see the stands packed when I was afraid no one would be back after last year, so congratulations to Brandon, Tony, and the fair board for making a much needed change before it was too late and quite possibly saving the Cowley demo from extinction..

AMEN TO THAT..... WIDEN THE TRACK, EAST TO WEST, ITS PLENTY LONG, AND PUT PORTA POTTIES IN THE BACK PIT AREAS. HAD A GREAT TIME, EVEN BEING STUCK WITHIN 2 HITS INTO THE FEATURE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, IM SURE MORE THAN 20 WILL SHOW NEXT YEAR NOW THAT YOU HAVE SHOWN THAT THE PROMISES THAT WERE MADE WERE KEPT. NO DRAMA, GOOD TIME.....

Once again I can't express how well ran and how much fun this show was.
Brandon, if your asking for idea's I've got two: I'm going with Jon on the track width (it's no way to end your night by being pushed into a corner surrounded by a pile of cars that can't turn around), and I'm not sure I like the "unlimited" wire rule. I didn't really build a car for this show but I could see me putting over a 100lbs of wire into a car next yr. That is neither a cheap or quick build. Maybe have the rule "chain OR wire" and have it only in certain spots? I don't know... How do the other drivers (that did use a lot of wire this yr) feel about it?

THE WIRING WAS VERY TIME CONSUMING , BUT I PROBABLY WENT THE EXTRA MILE AND THEN SOME WITH WHAT I DID USING IT. I THINK THE RULES ARE FINE, INSPECTION WAS THOROUGH AND ALL THE INSPECTORS WERE FRIENDLY BUT FIRM.I THINK IF I HAD PACED MYSELF THROUGH THE LEAST FEW MONTHS WORKING ON IT A FEW HOURS AT A TIME INSTEAD OF TRYING TO DO IT ALL IN 2 WEEKS (IN HORRENDOUS HEAT AND HUMIDITY) I WOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER TIME BUILDING IT. THE COST OF CHAINS VERSUS WIRE WOULD BE PRETTY COMPARABLE, A 100 POUND SPOOL OF 9 WIRE IS ABOUT $120.00, AND IF I HAD TO BUY NEW CHAINS TO USE I AM SURE THE COST WOULD BE AS MUCH AND PROBABLY MORE. THE GOOD THING ABOUT WIRE IS THAT WHEN THE CAR IS DONE, IT ALL GETS SCRAPPED RATHER THAN SPENDING TIME UNBOLTING THE CHAINS TO SAVE FOR NEXT YEARS CAR. I I THINK I HAD ABOUT 45-50 POUNDS THAT I USED FROM THE ROLL. SO MY COST WAS ABOUT $50 FOR THE WIRE I USED, I KNOW CHAINS WOULD BE MUCH MORE THAN THAT TO BUY. WITH THE RULES THAT ARE IN PLACE ITS A FAIR SHAKE FOR PEOPLE THAT EITHER WANT TO USE CHAINS AND WIRE, OR JUST WIRE. AS IN ANY MOTORSPORT THERE WILL BE DRIVERS WHO WANT TO PUT IN AS MUCH EXTRA WORK AS THE RULES WILL ALLOW AND SOME WHO ARE JUST WANTING TO FINISH OFF GRANDMAS OLDSMOBILE THAT HIT A DEER. THATS WHAT MADE THE SHOW GREAT ON FRIDAY, THE HUGE MIXED BAG OF CARS THAT SHOWED UP AND EVERYONE PUTTING ON THE SHOW. CROWDS HAVE BEEN SOURED ON FULL FIELDS OF CARS THAT WERE SO MODIFIED THAT THEY NO LONGER REPRESENT WHAT THEY ACTUALLY BEGAN AS. THE WAY THE RULES ARE NOW, PEOPLE IN THE STANDS CAN RELATE TO AT LEAST ONE CAR IN THE DERBY. AND IT WAS NICE TO SEE SOME NEW DRIVERS GET THEIR FEET WET, I KNOW THERES AT LEAST ONE NEW DRIVER WHO IS NOW HOOKED ON DERBYING. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB BRANDON AND CREW AND WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN.....

Had a great time, due to my bad luck with the driveshaft my night was very short, that will never happen again lol, but loved the car count and, I'm sure there will be more next year with more fans in the stands, my take on the rules, change the motor rule any ford motor in any ford and Chevy In any GM. And so fourth I'm sure then we can get more in the mix like oldsmobile, Buick, poniac, and much more,

IF YOU START SWAPPING IN ENGINES THAT WERENT FACTORY INSTALLED, YOU RUN INTO THE OLD " I HAD TO WELD MY ENGINE MOUNTS IN" NONSENSE. LETS KEEP IT LOWER BUDGET AND SIMPLE TO INSPECT.......

No that's not what I'm saying, u can bold Chevy mounts in and I'm saying if I wanted to stick a 350 in a old because I can't find a 350 wide block or if I was a kid just starting out and the car came out with a poniac 400 but I had a 305. Im spending less money but it was all a gm product its staying stock, no motor mods, no hp, just think how much do u sell running drivers for $750 to $1500 for a good car but I will want to take the cheapest way out, and it cuts down on quicker finds + faster builds+more cars =more kids and a better mix of iron.

WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS I HAVE SOLD MORE DERBY CARS THAT RUN AND DRIVE THAN ANY OTHER SEASON. LOTS OF NEWBIES GETTING THEIR FIRST DERBY EXPERIENCE AND WANT SOMETHING THAT RUNS WITHOUT SWAPPING ENGINES..SOLD A DRIVEABLE 76 DELTA 88 SEDAN FOR $600.00 A FEW METRIC GM`S THAT DROVE FOR $500-$700 AND EVEN A 75 COUPE DEVILLE THAT DROVE ON THE TRAILER FOR $700.00 NOT PERFECT CARS, BUT VERRRRRRY DERBY-ABLE. AND EXPLAINING THAT WHEN THEY WERE DONE SMASHING THEM THEY COULD YANK THE RUNNING DRIVETRAIN OUT AND SCRAP THE REST FOR AN EASY $300.00 BACK SEEMS TO WORK.......

CHEAPEST WAY FOR A NEW GUY TO GET INTO THIS WOULD BE TO FIND A $400.00 1980 IMPALA.. SURE TO HAVE A 305 IN IT AND EASY TO BUILD.... GET YOUR FEET WET, SAVE THE 305 AND TRANS AFTER SHE GETS WRECKED. I BOUGHT MORE RUNNING METRIC CARS IN THE LAST 2 YEARS THAN I HAD IN 15 YEARS PRIOR. THEY ARE OUT THERE, EASILY FOUND. MANY OF THE GM METRIC CARS COULD BE OPTIONED WITH A CHEVROLET " CORPORATE GM" ENGINE SO THEY ARE OUT THERE. AND... THERE IS NOT A THING WRONG WITH USING AN OLDS 350, 307 OR A BUICK 350 IN YOUR FIRST TIME OUT. NO ONE RAN THEIR FIRST SHOW WITH A BUILT 75 IMPALA WAGON WITH A 355 ROLLER ENGINE. WE ALL STARTED OUT SMALL AND GREW INTO IT....

Very true my first car was a Chrysler newport with the big block 400, but back then cars we not hard to find running and driving, I had at least 6 running cars, but today I don't and not many others I'm just saying I really don't see what the problem with bolting in the mounts in a GM, everyone is just like you or me, you see a car it don't have a motor but its a good car but you have a Chevy motor but u can't run it because it a oldsmobile so you have to move on to the next, so the next car you find is a impala but its 300 more then u can afford so now u have to eather cut your budget or hope to god it runs and drives, I'm just thinking budget wise not a way to modify a car to run better but because I have ran olds and chrystler and ford motors there all good but just simply to help the situation of getting kids in cars, everyone is the same ur going to look for a car that you already have stuff for but in a money saving way.
